NO NO NO do NOT describe it as a “Romantic Drama”. Yes it definitely has romance in it but that is really not the important aspect of it, the occupation and Elizabeth are the two most important things.
And Dawsey is SO MUCH MORE than just Juliet’s love interest!
I swear to god I’m going to be so angry if they make this film too focused on that romance. I love the relationship between Juliet and Dawsey but there are much more interesting relationships such as her friendship with Sidney, Elizabeth’s relationship with Christian and her friendship with Remy.
Please filmmakers don’t make it too much of a Hollywood-style romance!!
hi Stars I'm just dropping this in your inbox so you can see it once you're through finals and back from sabbatical but I gotta tell you (since you messaged me about it) that I'm reading Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and it's so warm and lovely and delightful and just. a book about loving books and about people who love books loving each other and it's so COZY. 12/10 would recommend.
and yes, I'm so watching the movie after I finish <333
Soooo... it looks like I'm a bit late to the party, ammarite. This movie is 100% one of the coziest movies I've ever seen. The characters were all so lovely that my heart bloomed. I found that they all had stolen my heart. Not only that, but the scenery is beautiful. stunning. gorgeous. That opening shot? *dramatic faint* The way that this was a romance movie/novel, but there was a central theme of found family? Beautiful. All of the characters had something taken/missing from their lives, but they found family and love in each other through hardship. There isn't anything lovelier to me.
Nursey for the omgcp asks
Nursey: What’s your favorite line from a poem/song?
I answered this before, but I'll drop another. It's from a novel, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society:
"What if there were a secret homing device that brought books to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true."
Thirdy — Das Haus — Friendship
Thirdy: What’s your favourite romance language?
Spanish - even when i have no idea what they are saying, i like how it sounds
Das Haus: If someone put you in charge of painting a frat house, what color would you go for and why?
if i was painting the outside, semi-obnoxious teal. gotta have those identifying features baybeeee
Friendship: What’s a fictional friendship you love?
ART and Murderbot from The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells; Juliet and Isola from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society; Inigo and Fezzik from the Princess Bride; all the main ladies from the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger
asks are here :D

Do you know if Michelle had do audition for The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society movie? Because I read that it's directed by Elizabeth McGovern's husband.
I doubt it LOL. If I had to guess they probably talked about doing a feature together and Simon pitched this script at her. StudioCanal was surely thrilled to get the two of them. If there was an audition it was most likely a formality.
Michelle confirmed for Guernsey movie?
Production Weekly reported she was attached a couple of weeks ago, confirmed again by a reporter from The Wrap today.
This project is still in development so anything could happen. But I see no reason it wouldn’t proceed successfully. My concern is who is producing. StudioCanal is primarily a distributor that rarely produce films on their own, and I think FOX2000 is no longer involved.
