Diamond Fangrace
District 1 Mentor | Twenty-Four | Victor of the 68th Annual Hunger Games
Short Bio: Diamond never wanted for anything. As the daughter of the mayor of District 1, she was raised in a very wealthy lifestyle. But her mother was a victor and expected the same of her daughter. So at the age of five, Diamond was enrolled in the District’s Academy. It was there that she learned and trained. She learned to right in the same day that she learned to throw knives.
Her life wasn’t all glitter and sunshine though. When she was nine years old, Diamond’s mother passed away due to cancer. Diamond used her mother’s passing as even more motivation to go on and win the Hunger Games. She trained harder and quickly became top of her training class, though her grades in her schooling began to slip.
How did they feel about the games before being reaped? Diamond was raised in a district where winning the Hunger Games meant great pride. She watched the games religiously and trained diligently for the games before her seventeenth year in which she volunteered.
What was their arena like & how did they win their game? Diamond’s arena was a tropical forest dotted with volcanos, some active and some inactive. She played the part of a Career tribute. She joined the Career pack. She is very manipulative and convinced her allies that the other members of the pack were out to kill them. Eventually it dwindled down to the boy from one and herself as well as the girl from seven. Volcanos erupted everywhere in an effort to gather them together. Diamond seeing this as an opportunity went after her ally first, shoving the larger boy into the boiling lava with much effort with just enough time to get out of the way. Making her way towards the final battle ground, Diamond knew it would be no trouble to kill the girl from seven. Much to her surprise, the girl from seven was a good match for herself. Diamond barely survived, being pulled from the arena as she bled out from a wound inflicted by a knife the girl from seven was wielding.
Victory year: 68th
How were they affected by their experiences in the game? She was raised that the Games brought pride to her district and has never questioned that statement, however she sometimes feels the guilt of killing her District partner. To hide her guilt and the depression that follows when those memories surface, she drinks wine heavily.
Three strengths and three weaknesses: Strengths – Good intuition, ability to think things out and solve problems, empathy for her tributes. Weaknesses – Recurring bouts of depression that come on with no advance notice, tendencies to throw fits when she doesn’t get her way, she’s very private about her personal life
What are they like as a mentor? She treats all of her tributes the same. She loves them like they are her own children and cares for each one. She knows what they’re going through and will do anything in her power to keep her tributes alive.
What is their personality? Empathic, quiet, caring, fierce, honest. Diamond is rather quiet around others, mainly because she doesn’t like people digging too deep into her personal life. She cares about others though, mainly her tributes and she will show that around the other mentors as well as her tributes. She’s fierce and honest in the way she acts and what she does. She tells it like it is, when you can get her too talk. She may care about her tributes, but she doesn’t sugarcoat things for them.
