Posted @withregram • @mallory_erickson_coach I was on a call recently where someone started to talk about love, and the relationship between love and fundraising. I don’t use the word love much (if ever) in my teaching. But I’ve been reflecting on this a lot. And I DO believe love plays a big role in fundraising. Major donors come from love. Increased giving comes from love. Monthly donors come from love. Win-win funders come from love. Power Partners come from love. Because love is born from transparency, honestly, vulnerability and authenticity. True connection and humanness. Those things do not exist with perfectionism. They can’t. Because what is authentic or vulnerable about trying to appear perfect? I know the pull towards perfectionism is strong. I know the beliefs you hold are deep. And, I know for many of you (particularly my BIPOC fundraisers) they come from real traumatic experiences that you have been through. None of this is your fault, they come rooted in capitalism, patriarchy, and white supremacy. But there is another way. It’s definitely scarier at first. But it’s the route to sustainability and success.
