he just keeps getting hotter
"It's the little things during the apocalypse, you know?"
The spoken words make Daryl pause in his step, looking over his shoulder at the Asian who looks optimistic and, dare he say, enthusiastic. There wasn’t much to look forward to now these days, so he doesn’t try to dampen the mood, instead, snorting and shaking his head, looking down and away. If the other was looking for happiness in places where it was hard to find, who was Daryl to stop him? Kid deserved a bit of light, even if they were fending for their lives at every corner.
Daryl stepped over branch, his boots crunching on leaves as he led the way. Glenn wanted to help him with the snares, which was fine with him. A little company helped make the day go quicker, and it wasn’t without a little selfishness of keeping Glenn near. Just a little harmless unrequited crush, and Daryl wasn’t really looking for anything to come off of it other than friendship. Letting Glenn come was his attempt at extending that olive branch, one way past overdue. He couldn’t stop the small grin, saying as they walked, “What are ya thinkin’ about? What is makin’ this all okay to you, man?”
{ My Tourniquet. . . }
[ The city had dimmed, but it quickly became apparent it wasn't from nightfall approaching.. No, it was hardly the evening yet in this city. ]
[ It was probably going to rain, he concluded. ]
[ The clouds were collecting, darkening his surroundings and he simply ignored it. It didn't change a thing. If anything it was quite fitting right now of all times.. After such a day that had any began with jokes and flowers that was now ending- Like this. He'd abandoned Oz.. or Oz had wished for them to abandon them to be more honest about the situation, the boy even decided he was no longer the man's Master, and left him without much choice but to move from their apartment. He hadn't brought any of his clothes with him. Not even his own casual clothes. No, he was stuck in a mildly formal suit with a bright blue tie and no hat. He'd need to ask the other for such back at some point, if he could build up the courage to face them again after that. After he'd forcibly kissed the boy, been rejected, kissed back, and then kicked out.. he really wasn't sure what to think. But what mattered was that he had so quickly lost the title he was promised because of those events.. nothing else ever would matter as much as that. ]
[ Oz had promised him he could always be his servant. ]
[ He didn't deserve the girl's hat anyway.. Not if he had no relation to the Vessalius house anymore. He had no right to even own such a treasured present- It was better off in the care of her brother until it could be properly returned. He probably wouldn't be able to face her either.. He paused, stopping in the middle of the empty road. ] 'I'm a coward..~" [ He smirked a little, expression entirely forced. No wonder Oz would reject him like that; He was a failure of a servant, a coward, pathetic. The boy didn't need someone like that weighing him down.. pushing their troubles onto that small body's. He hissed a little at himself, and just forced himself forward again. He'd started walking from Oz's apartment hours ago, and had made it all the way back to his own for the second time since being placed in such an area- And like last time.. he simply peeked in, and then turned to run for his life. He had nowhere to go. He was 'homeless' now, wasn't he? And somewhere lost somewhere near Sector oo4. He couldn't stay there in his own assigned home, and to inconvenience the Oz who didn't want him any longer was something he wouldn't do.. ]
[ What was he suppose to do..? ]
[ The more he thought about it, the more he realized that he had just lost everything in a single day. How he hadn't drunken himself into a coma yet, he wasn't quite sure.. He'd broken down into tears twice today, and he still felt like crying more. He wanted to see Oz and beg for forgiveness.. Maybe he would do that if it got too late. Maybe he could salvage their relationship, a small part of him thought about that almost enthusiastically, but could he really do it..? Oz wanted him to be in love with him, didn't he? Oz desired that, and he didn't think he could give it to him.. He couldn't give Oz anything he needed in life. He never had. And with such things running through his head, it wasn't long before he collapsed to his knees dangerously in the middle of the road. Hands moving to cover his mouth as he tried not to break down again.. ]
[ He had honestly been rejected by the only person in life he truly desired.. His most important, precious, Master.. and the only self-less way to handle this was to do just what they wanted him to do. But it wasn't what he wanted at all. ]
[ He wanted his Master. ]
