Astrid Microfic - Glasses
Stormfly's tail cut through the sea air as she hurled spikes at enemy ships and spat out flames.Â
Clutching the saddle with a death grip, Astrid tried her best not to give in to panic. She was supposed to find the gang, but she literally didn't see anything.Â
Astrid squinted desperately and leaned forward slightly, trying to see the movement of black dots on the island - her eyes were watering from diligence, but the image continued to remain blurry. Astrid couldn't tell Hooligans from enemies, and it wasn't the dizzying height at all.Â
"Odin's only eye, why am I being punished?!" Astrid blurted out.Â
Stormfly maneuvered to the side, dodging arrows and catapult volleys, and Astrid automatically clutched her travel bag to her so that it would not slip off her shoulder.Â
Something blinded Astrid for a moment. Looking down, she realized that a ray of sunlight was reflected from the glasses she had forgotten at the bottom of the bag. A gift from Hiccup in honor of her sixteenth birthday. The worst gift a Viking can get.Â
Astrid's pride could not accept that in her image of a true Viking there was such a significant flaw as poor eyesight.Â
The situation was heating up. Enemy sails - Astrid could hardly distinguish the emblems - flashed more and more often. Her friends need her. Her family needs her. Her village needs her. And if, for the sake of protecting her loved ones, her have to step on the throat of her own pride... Well, Astrid was willing to make such sacrifices.Â
"I can't believe I'm doing this," she grumbled and, closing her eyes and holding her breath, put her glasses on her nose.
