Like idk how to describe it- the best example I can think of is Glanton x Holden from Blood Meridian. Do I ship them? Kinda I guess???????????? Do I think they're a 'good couple'? Are they my OTP? Do I find them cute? FUCK no. I like their dynamics and think the idea of them being more than friends is kinda intriguing yknow? Idk if shipping is the right word for it tbh? I could ramble on about them forever but this post isn't about them, they're just the first thing that came to mind. another good example would be like Bill Cipher x Ford Pines from Gravity Falls. Most people don't ship them because they're a cute couple, but because they're interesting.

Note this isn't like romanticization of anything idk how to describe this in a way that makes sense- it's morbid curiosity ig? It's like watching a horror movie or reading angst; you don't like or support what's happening to the characters but it's interesting. I think that's like what the appeal of toxic yaoi/yuri is, it's the angst the drama the dynamics etc etc. Am I making sense?

And if there are any proshippers/darkshippers/WHATEVER y'all are called now in the comments saying "oh it's okay to ship abusive relationships!!" you WILL be blocked, this ain't like that. Glorification and romanticization of toxicity is not okay even in fiction, I'm just trying to say it's okay to find these topics interesting as long as it's being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
