Good morning! Alumna Jami "James Black" Spence made VOGUE Italia earlier this month. Today her fashion tips are featured in the local Flair magazine. Here is an excerpt: - "Designer and brains behind the YC and Glamhead labels Jami 'JB' Spence has evolved from a fashion designer to fashion blogger with her successful blog http://jbstylezone.blogspot.com. The UWI Mona graduate describes her personal style as edgy sophistication. She tells Style Moments, "I love statement-making pieces without being loud or vulgar. I'm also a tomboy at heart, so sometimes I'll mix in oversized tees or snapbacks in my outfit choices..." For her 5 essential style tips, click here.

GlamHEAD's so nice, we had to feature it twice!
You may have seen our photo coverage of the YC & GlamHEAD trunk show recently in our On the Stush Radar series, if not check out the full album on facebook here: http://on.fb.me/HBSsMM. After seeing these bold head-toppers in person, we sat down with James Black, designer and model, to talk about the success GlamHEAD has had so far and what we can look forward to soon:Â
STUSH: How would you describe the brand GH for those who don't know about it yet
James Black: GlamHEAD is a very edgy brand of statement making headbands. It's for the woman who loves fashion and isn't afraid to stand out. There's a lot of West African influence and the use of abstract prints in my designs.
STUSH: What inspired you to start designing headbands?
JB: I started getting into headbands in 2010 but was craving something other than the generic ones I was seeing in Jamaica. I already have a clothing line [Yahdie Conscious] and was used to testing out my creative skills in fashion so I figured I could actually start making my own headbands and make them available to other women like myself.
STUSH: Tell us why GH should be on the Stush Radar.
JB: GlamHEAD should definitely be on the STUSH radar not only because it is such a big trend right now but headbands never really go out of style, there's always just a time when there's more of a buzz about it like now. There are also no other headband lines in Jamaica that are operating at this level, if there are any others at all, and I'd like to think that in itself is unique. My headbands will always get you noticed BUT in the right way!
STUSH: We've been seeing a few ladies pictured wearing GH at a few events recently...is there ever a wrong way to wear a headband? What's a definite no-no for you?
JB: Yeah I do see a lot of ladies at events wearing the brand as well, once I spotted about 5 at the same venue but I was VERY pleased to see that it was 5 different designs! lol. GlamHEADhas gotten to the point where most people just assume it's from my brand if they see a girl in a headband, such is not the case because I see a lot of "not so great" headbands lol. But, like with any other statement accessory you don't want to make your outfit too busy. A headband will always get you noticed so try to keep the outfit as simple as possible. Stay away from pairing it with other statement pieces like large earrings or a "busy" chain. Simplicity is key and something a lot of women in Jamaica do not embrace enough.
STUSH: Where can we find GH?
JB: The former location we were selling from closed down late last year so now we're scouting out a new outlet. For now, interested persons can email [email protected] or call me at 850-5969.
Editors Note: Since we published this interview, we have learned glamHEAD is now available at Style Savvy, Shop #16 in 7th Avenue Plaza. YC pieces are also available there, so you can shop for an entire outfit in one location.
