I just spent 10 hours on this only to realise at the end that these two can't be in sunlight....

but now that i did, i start to think the gannen from canon would probably not try to spare kurda if kurda’s plan had succeeded and united the clans. because the more i think about it, gannen doesn’t actually fit the type.

in my view gannen’s honorable, generally reasonable, and is not the type to be impulsive or consumed by hatred. i feel like he had thoughts on probably many things and generally a good moral compass, so to speak. that said, gannen is also a rule sticker. he may disagree with a rule / law personally and has his own thoughts on things, but at the end of the day he follows those rules. i feel like if he wanted to change things, he’d look for ways to change from within, going through changing the rules, instead of just outright throwing them out of the window. case in point - gannen dealing with steve. gannen clearly disagreed with steve’s many actions and sometimes looked like he couldn’t stand him anymore, but the law says to follow the vampaneze lord so he sticks to it, sticks to his duty. he doesn’t enjoy it, he disagreed on steve’s views on things, but if steve ordered something, gannen obeyed.

that’s why, gannen may sympathize with kurda and agreed with some of his ideals, but i suddenly find myself thinking canon gannen would probably not be part of the coup. (and he isn’t - he wasn’t at the mountain in tvp). while he does not have to obey vampires laws, kurda did mention that the vampaneze that day would violate the no trespassing vampires turfs law, though it’s probably not a big deal (not as much as high treason kurda committed, anyway). like, coups doesn’t feel like something gannen involve in. he may want peace, but he’s more likely to be in favor of legal negotiations between the clans. (as we see in the last book, from what evanna told darren.)

now that i rethink my characterizations for gannen - honorable and with his own conscience and yet wouldn’t go against the laws, whatever his personal feelings are, even if he found the laws (or steve, in some cases) unreasonable. he’s a “reform within system” “authorized, legal negotiations” type. (in contrast to vampaneze such as glalda, perhaps.) considering his position (vampaneze lord’s personal butler guard), he’s held a lot of authority, probably often need to make important decisions, and likely is efficient, and dedicated most of his time to work.

I’d love to think that there’s a timeline out there in which my OTP runs away and is happily ever after.

I unfortunately didn’t shade Glalda here(thought it’d mess with his beard, even though I could just shade the beard darker), but he’s got purple skin. =)
