The thing with Gladstone specifically is how many false impressions and half truths just permeate around him. Donald and Gladstone are both similarly frustrated with being misunderstood π just. Yaknow. For different reasons. π¬ It's very humorous for me to imagine the entire family all INSISTING that he's gay. (And Della- who believes he's a lesbian trans woman (she really insists on it).) And no one taking the time to listen to or get to know him. It's the easiest way to get on his nerves, not necessarily because he doesn't like being associated with queerness, but because no one bothers to consider what he has to say about HIS OWN IDENTITY.
He's also futchy fem4fem !??@?@?@ Like Magicstone...Gladaisy....any of his one off girlfriends. They're all very feminine women. I think he, in general, finds masculinity very unattractive. Its common for fruity characters to be paired with women, like Mortimer, who I believe is 100% gay and is just trying to compensate for something.
