A horrible quick clay landslide has happend in my home town Gjerdrum. I have posted many pictures from the woods surrouning this lovely village, woods we all love to enjoy. I don't usually post long texted post's with information, but this is something near to me. A tragedy that has effected a place you seem to enjoy the pictures from.
It happened the day before new year, in the middle of the night. Houses were swept away, along with the people sleeping soundly inside. Among them friends. We are a small community, we all know someone, or know someone who know someone, who has been affected. A thousand people were evacuated in the dead of night, and the country is grieving for those lost and missing.
This is such a surreal thing to happen, here of all places. A place so unknow to even the rest of our country, I used to refer to it as a black hole on the map.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing but most of us have lost hope in finding anymore survivors of the remaining 6 missing.
It has although warmed our hearts seeing how generous and caring our community, and the villages surrounding us, has been. Manny of the evacuated had to flee in nothing but the clothes they got on in a hurry. But even on just the first day the hotell the evacuated were sent to had to say no to donations because there were no more space.
I was lucky in all this, I live just outside the evacuation zone and our house is built on mountain. But it has still been quite the blow, not to mention shocking. Just spending so much time telling everyone else you were fine while at the same time hoping everyone else were aswell.
Sorry for the long post, and sorry for it being so depressing. But even a country that might seem quite idyllic has it's dark and scary moments. But light always finds a way back and so it will here, as long as we are all there for each other.

An art pice made with a drawing of our mayor as he tried to discuss the missing people with the media. The red line the village border and the white lines represent the village center, affected by the landslide.
It is an art pice who a lot of people from Gjerdrum has been truly moved by, as it showed how we all feel. A true sorrow for our willage and its inhabitants.
