Needs vs. Skills
What I realised recently is that "doing what you love" doesn't actually matter. The greatest joy is doing something meaningful, following a higher purpose. In life it's unlikely that we'll do only "what we love". What does that even mean? It doesn't matter..
Why people grow kids, volunteer, help local community, build startups.. it's not because they love an act of doing. It's because they have a higher purpose in their minds and hearts that drives them forward.
"The happiest man is the one who found a job he loves." - there's a popular quote similar to this. The happiest man is the one who found a purpose to serve..
I had a chat with NB the other day. "Not all people have passion to do what they love. They don't mind doing something else because they have different needs at a certain time," she said.
I replied: "Everyone can be a genius in its own way by realising its full potential. If people would have better resources, better systems in place, etc. more people could do what they love and express their creativity." It is not true. It doesn't matter.
Without structure people go crazy. What's the purpose of all people's thoughts?
People are different and have different needs. Just like in nature. People should have a way of satisfying their needs. That's what matters.
And purpose? It will come when people will climb through the ladders of their needs.
