#given ova

I was watching this jdrama the other day, called Jack o’ Frost (pretty niche but you can find it on Viki)

‼️Given - Jack o’ Frost spoilers ahead ‼️

The plots are different ofc, but at some point of the drama it started giving me Given vibes and I didn’t quite get why…

But then this scene came:

It was painfully familiar…

Then I remembered this scene from the Given ova:

• Again, different reasons, different outcomes, but still, MISUNDERSTANDINGS & MISCOMMUNICATION. Uenoyama and Fumiya not talking openly about what upsets them, Mafuyu and Ritsu not picking up on subtle hints/not understanding unless explicitly told…

Didn’t think I’d cry so hard ever again after Given but here we are Ig-

• Also, MEMORIES is another theme they have in common. Mafuyu never really letting go of/forgetting about Yuki and Uenoyama having to deal with Mafuyu’s past; Ritsu losing all his memories about Fumiya and Fumiya, who cherishes those memories so much, watching Ritsu not recognizing him and still staying by his side, hoping he would remember one day.

• Lastly, the SECOND CHANCE/STARTING ANEW, whether it is Mafuyu finding love again in Uenoyama after Yuki or Ritsu and Fumiya “resetting” their relationship, trying to avoid their past mistakes and falling in love all over again.

I didn’t have high expectations on this drama at first tbh, it seemed to have just a bunch of tropes and I wanted sth just to pass the time, but by the time it ended I realized it already got a special place in my heart T-T
