I just stumbled on Eric Erdman’s Instagram and it’s heartbreaking. He’s 20 now, battling stage 4 brain cancer, and documenting each major event like an online diary. On July 28th, doctors told him he has 6 months to live - that’s less than one month from now.
You guys, this kid had to plan his own funeral.
Please follow him on Instagram @EricRErdman and follow his foundation @GiveAChildAVoice. Let him know you see him. Show him people care while he’s still here with us.
About the Foundation:
Eric used the wish granted to him by the Make-a-Wish foundation to create a foundation called Give A Child A Voice. It focuses on protecting children, motivating victims of abuse to speak up, and rebuilding high school gyms.
“Why gyms?”
Eric was born 25 weeks premature, and it caused health and learning issues throughout his life. He was bullied in school and abused as a child, to the point that his family had to move. Eric often struggled in silence, but found peace in sports and exercise. Now he wants other kids to have the same outlet he had.
“The gym allowed me to shut out all the noise in my life, which eventually led to finding my voice.” To this day, Eric says the greatest pain came from his silence. Learning to share his experiences, no matter how difficult, made the pain more bearable.
Eric Erdman makes this world a better place. Let’s say thank you with an Instagram follow (and a kind message, if you’re up to it)!
