Hello there, 

I am yet another web developer using github to host my open source code.

I have always wondered "How many people actually visit my repositories?". It is possible to gain an idea of how "popular" a project is by looking at the number of times it was forked, however, out of how many visits? 

More recently, analytics are driving the industry of software development. Tools like Google Analytics are giving great insights to companies about the activity of their users and what is happening with their product. I am intrigued to know whether open source development can be driven by these statistics?

So, one day I picked the challenge to change this and the result is Githalytics. It is a project that allows you to bind your github repository with your Google Analytics account and track page views and visits to your code.

I am confident that Githalytics will help you gain insight into projects by providing numbers instead of hype!
