The promotion had come as a surprise.Β
A welcome surprise, mind, one that had been accompanied by some jumping up and down in place and some very non-professional squealing. She may or may not have buoyantly hugged the messenger who'd brought her the good news. Hisca hadn't cared. She was a captain, darn it, she could do what she wanted!
Hisca had taken one look at the promotional letter and sent back her words of acceptance with utmost haste. She couldn't wait to tell Schwann. To tell her sister. To tell Niren, to tell everyone.Β Being a First Captain meant more authority, a fancier uniform, more freedom choosing her assignments, and it meant she got to be saluted!
It also meant far less paperwork. And, even better, meant she could assign paperwork, or foist off some of her own more menial pieces of it to others.Β
These others she had yet to have the pleasure of meeting, but according to one of the senior officers, her roster was being assembled as they spoke. Hisca was to be in her office at ten sharp the following morning, ready to instruct the masses, or something.
Normally Hisca dreaded sitting in her office, but all dread was gone today. She sat in her office, which she'd even cleaned for the occasion, and waited for her recruits to show up.Β
MA: Hisca has accepted a temporary promotion in which she will function as the captain of her very own brigade! Her diligence has been rewarded. Nonetheless, let's take it easy. What are you orders of business, Captain?
