It wasn't uncommon for Adrian to find himself at these parties. The son of a prominent magical family, one that had been known to tarnish the bloodline by marrying his non-magical mother - some claiming that it was that sullying that brought about the parseltongue within Adrian - it was expected that he show up as he was the future of the Valemont line. Some people may question the kind of future that the Valemont name would have, given that many people seemed to wait with bated breath for Adrian to turn dark, but he was the future all the same and thus he knew he had to show up to help his father represent their branch of the family tree.
Of course, most people found themselves steering clear of him, giving him a wide berth and casting glances in his way. That was fine for him, though, of course. If people wanted to regard him with suspicion and uneasiness, then they weren't the kind of people he wanted to be around. He knew who he was, and he knew that one ability didn't mean that he was inherently evil or would inevitably go bad.
Or, at least, so he kept telling himself.
Regardless, as he lingered near the wall as the faculty spoke with prominent members of the wizarding community, his phone buzzed and with it came a reprieve from all of the whispers and stares he was receiving. Having forgotten that he had downloaded the app at the insistence of one of his Quidditch teammates, leaving it very bare of anything that would indicate it was him, he wasn't wholly opposed to the message that he received. A bit of banter back and forth, and he was given an alternative to the celebration of the start of the semester.
After a half-hour, the half-blood managed to sneak away from the party once he had been sure that his presence had been noted - that people had adequately responded to his being there with their usual reactions of stares and whispers - and he began to make his way to the building that he had been given the address of. Once he arrived, he stopped in front of the room and let his knuckles wrap against the door, waiting for the other male to answer.
