The Original Gilbert Baker's Pride Flag + Opabinia sketch
Personal use with credit is welcome. ^^
Here´s the video my Skittles portrait of Gilbert Baker made in Gish Fest, in video!
My first time recording a "traditional" process (not sure if painting with skittles can be a traditional painting)!
So, forgive me for bad camera positions!
For everyone who asked about how to “paint” with such a strange “ink', as you can see, I´m not using a lot of water (or the colors will fade, too much diluted). I made this in my first time using SKittles painting in last Gish and I discovered how the colors fade too much if you just soak the skittles in water.
Instead, I put some drops in a group of skittles on ice molds (and used this “ink” to paint some layers, still not TOO colorful, as a base).
And the trick to have really bright colors, a simple wet brush and brushstroking one skittle to take, directly, his color.
The proofs came back for the #8bit #pride hearts! Seen here in Steve's hand, the #bisexualpride & #gilbertbaker pins. Surveys will go out to backers shortly - we're ironing out a few last details on the additional 8-bit items. So excited to share these with the world! https://www.instagram.com/p/BuuRU4pBglg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xdekdr7gadpf
Custom sewn rainbow flag. 🏳️🌈 In March 2017, Gilbert Baker created a 9-stripe version of his original 1977 flag, with lavender, pink, turquoise and indigo stripes along with the red, orange, yellow, green and violet. According to Baker, the lavender stripe symbolizes diversity. 🌈 ——————————— www.seattleflagmakers.com ——————————— #seattleflagmakers #flags #rainbowflag #rainbowflags #gilbertbaker #gilbertbaker🏳️🌈 #diversity https://www.instagram.com/p/By5qS39g5aq/?igshid=1fwmbj8jh5klp

To Gilbert Baker, creator of the LGBTQ+ flag.
This flag is our pride, it represents our love and equality all over the world. We ARE that flag. Thank you, the entire community is standing up for you. With our flag in our hands. Rip Gilbert Baker.
Its that time of the year!! Here’s a little animation I made for Pride month and as entry for #TypeWithPride Contest using the font dedicated to Gilbert Baker. HappyPride!!
Tahrir Scarves for Gay Pride
Che Guevara and many revolutionaries have donned Tahrir scarves, elevating these soft cotton accessories to iconic status.
Fae entrepreneur and yoga bud Johnathan Morpurgo has given a twist to these all-weather scarves, by designing them in the colors of the gay flag—a statement against revolutionary homophobia.
JoMo consulted his design with Gilbert Baker, the recently-passed creator of the rainbow flag.
Baker approved of Jomo's idea to make the scarves in gay colors, and facilitated the exact numbers of the dyes he used in making his original flag.
In honor of Baker and Gay Pride, I am wearing three iterations of the scarf, all available at TahrirScarf.com or Facebook.com/morpurgo.
