1) What made you ship it?

honestly just watching their interactions in canon! i didn't necessarily ship them immediately but while watching s2 i was like 👀 wait these guys are rlly cute together actually. i think they just have a lot of natural chemistry and it was sweet having someone who gihun could be comfortable and safe around given that the games are so hostile otherwise yknow? i think the moment where jungbae said he had promised to himself that he'd never leave gihun's side, and when he made gihun act like his old self and smile again, was the moment where i definitely started shipping them hehe

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

i love their chemistry and the way they're both just so comfortable around each other! i also think there's a rlly nice balance in s2 between gihun who's serious and heavily traumatised + hypervigilant and jungbae who's a little silly and kind and energetic. they just complete each other very nicely and complement each other's personalities in a way that's very endearing to me. plus physically they just make a fun duo to look at and draw with gihun being tall and skinny and jungbae being shorter and stocky.......... you can't go wrong with the wario and waluigi combo of body types in a duo imo lolllllll

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

honestly i don't think this ship is popular enough for any of my opinions on it to rlly count as being unpopular or popular 😔.......

ig one opinion i have that i haven't seen around a lot is that they're not necessarily a completely wholesome non-toxic ship? a lot of people seem to write the ship off as excessively sweet and completely wholesome with no issues but i don't think this is true. dgmw they are very cute together and i think their relationship could be very healthy but they have some shit they'd need to work on.

most notably to me, jungbae is the person who got gihun addicted to gambling and arguably also contributed to gihun's divorce by facilitating gihun's alcoholism. there's also the fact that jungbae was completely fine with gihun doing things like stealing from his mum for gambling money, only briefly chastising him but then just going along with it lol. so i think there's a lot of potential there for him and gihun to encourage each other's unhealthy coping mechanisms.

equally, although i understand why he did it (trauma, guilt, wanting to keep jungbae out of danger), it was kind of a dick move on gihun's part to completely ghost jungbae after the games even though jungbae was his best friend. plus i think gihun can be emotionally closed off and has a tendency to get aggressive and defensive when people try to help him or bring up issues he has. i think they could easily get into situations where resentment could build up in their relationship due to their unresolved guilt abt how they've behaved towards each other at different points. but since they're both pretty honest people and jungbae is a good communicator and knows how to make gihun relax, i think they could probably work things out. and there are a lot of ways in which they're very good for each other too so i think their relationship could be something very healthy and good for them both, BUT that's not a 100% certainty and there are definitely things they need to work on together.

maybe it's a weird thing for the number one baehun fan guy to list out ways that they'd be bad for each other, LOL. but ig i just find it a little frustrating when ppl reduce their dynamic to "the cute/wholesome gihun ship" with no nuance. gihun is good at attracting red flag men and jungbae, as much as i love him, is not entirely an exception to that LOL. but dgmw i still do think they can be very cute and sweet together and it's true that it is probably the least toxic gihun ship out of all of the options, lmao

5. Who is the cheesier one of the two?

i think they're both cheesy in different ways! jungbae is probably the most outwardly cheesy one bc he loves expressing himself through physical affection and i also picture him being someone who'd randomly say he loves gihun all the time and call him the most weirdass pet names. but gihun is also cheesy in his own weird intense way. i picture him as being very protective over jungbae at times (esp in the jungbae survives au, after seeing jungbae get shot gihun would be stuck to him like glue trying to make sure he never gets hurt again imo) and sometimes it comes across as a little overly intense and clingy to others. but jungbae is def the most openly cheesy of the two of them imo

12. Who prefers calling to texting (& vice versa)? Bonus: Who is so bad at texting it made the other think they weren't interested when they first started hanging out? [This could be hypothetical as much as real].

i think they both prefer calling to texting! i've noticed a general trend that ppl over the age of like 45+ tend to prefer calls to texts so i'm guessing they'd be like that probably. when they do text, before the games i think gihun was a very energetic texter and would use emoticons like :) a lot. but after the games he's a lot more dry and prefers one word responses. but he still ends his texts to jungbae with a little smiley face or a heart sometimes when he's feeling more relaxed........ and even when his responses are very short/dry, jungbae doesn't rlly mind bc he knows what gihun is like and that it's notjing personal.

13. Stay home/go-out? What are their date nights like?

i think they'd mix it up! post-games gihun is very much a hermit type of guy and i think he'd hate going out/find it stressful at first, but i think maybe with time jungbae could help him ease into going out sometimes again. they're not the type of couple to go anywhere fancy or do anything crazy but i think they'd just like to go out and get junk food sometimes, maybe grab a beer at the local bar and just wander around...... possibly see a movie or something.

but imo they'd mostly just stay home and spend quality time together there. before the games it was different, i think gihun loved to go out drinking and maybe get a lil wild sometimes, but after the games i don't think he'd like that kind of thing anymore. the scene where they're in the nightclub and he's so anxious/stressed out is evidence of that, like ik he was freaking out bc he was waiting to meet inho but i also think it's just not something he'd enjoy anymore even at the best of times. he'd be too vigilant worrying abt ppl sneaking up on him and i think loud sounds and flashing lights would trigger ptsd flashbacks of the "special game" and stuff....... possibly jungbae would be less into going out etc after being in the games too :( poor guys both end up being heavily traumatised rip

i think they would be a kinda Boring couple in terms of what they do together at home lol, but maybe i'm just projecting bc that's sorta the kind of relationship i fantasise about. like they read books together, watch tv together, cook together, cuddle and nap....... just calm and cozy things. i can imagine jungbae being the type of guy to enjoy fishing and hiking etc so maybe sometimes he also drags gihun out to do that, and gihun is always a little unsure abt it but being out in nature does make him feel better in the end :-)

39. Do they get along with the other's family? If not, how do they deal with the other's family?

it's canon that jungbae and gihun's mum got along rlly well! i think she would've been sweet to him and he would've been rlly nice to her and flattered her a lot and made her laugh. gihun would've probably had to put up with a lot of "why can't you be more like jungbae" talk lol.

i think jungbae also got along rlly well with gayeong too! my personal little self indulgent headcanon is that is that she calls him "uncle jungbae" (ig it would be like she calls him jungbae samchon in korean?) sometimes and jungbae loves it lol.

the one person who jungbae did not get along with in gihun's family was gihun's ex-wife though, since i think she (rightfully!) blamed jungbae for getting gihun into gambling and for encouraging him to go out drinking so much and she saw jungbae as a bad influence on him (she wasn't exactly wrong lol). i think jungbae probably just dealt with it by avoiding her as much as he could.......

i think that jungbae's ex-wife had much the same feelings abt gihun just in reverse. although jungbae's family had money struggles too, they were doing better than gihun was so i think jungbae gave gihun money often to try and help support him. but jungbae's wife saw that and felt that jungbae was prioritising his "deadbeat" friend over their own family yknow? i think gihun probably tried to win her over and make her feel better abt him but always just managed to make things worse somehow :(

idk if jungbae's daughter would've liked gihun since we don't rlly know anything abt her in canon, but i like to think so! i think gihun is/was generally a likeable guy to most people....... yeah he was prone to bouts of anger but for the most part he'd be friendly and kinda bumbling and people liked that.

19. What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?)

i think they would bicker relatively often, but generally about pretty small things....... before the games i think they argued a lot about money and about how gihun treated his mum (like jungbae would be angry at him for how he mistreats her yknow). i think canonically their biggest fights were probably about those things........ in a post-games au where jungbae survives, i think jungbae would maybe sometimes find gihun's hypervigilance and his tendency to deprive himself for the sake of others frustrating. but it's less like it genuinely makes him mad but more like it just worries him and he doesn't always have the emotional intelligence to know how to address those worries in a sensitive/kind way and can make gihun feel defensive :( but i think that they'd be able to talk it out and get through it after realising what's going on, esp since jungbae has been through the games himself so he'd be able to understand why gihun is struggling and so traumatised by it since he's also gone through it

25. (a lil sappy, but..) What do they like about each other?

gihun: he likes jungbae's cheery attitude and his honesty/openness. jungbae isn't a deceitful or vindictive person and i think that's something gihun would rlly appreciate, given that so many people in his life have lied to and betrayed him in some way lol. jungbae is someone he can be himself around without having to worry about being stabbed in the back........ physically, i think his favourite thing abt jungbae is the way he scrunches his face up when he smiles :-)

jungbae: he likes gihun's ability to think outside of the box and the determination and fire that gihun has. gihun is a kind and silly guy (well, silly in s1 😔) but he can also have a sharp tongue and a short temper and i think jungbae likes that. i think jungbae is intelligent but gihun is a little smarter and has the ability to think more laterally and i think that's smth jungbae rlly likes. physically i think jungbae loves how kinda lanky and a lil awkward gihun is (he finds it endearing) and the way his eyes look kinda sad but light up when he smiles or laughs <3

bonus: if he wore this costume in an au where he lives for halloween, i do NOT think gihun would be impressed......... thinking abt jungbae almost dying would freak him out BAD i think and even a jokey zombie costume would be enough to inflame that emotional injury :( ON HIS BIRTHDAY TOO JUNGBAE HOW COULD U lol
