Spoilered outer wilds discussion below! Not very spoiler-y in terms of story but spoilered for planets I guess?
Something I’ve loved noticing when watching replays of Outer Wilds is the specific habits people have towards specific planets. Like- before someone figures out the game isn’t streamline, often I’ll see somebody pick one planet out of the sky to focus on for the next few loops, and keep coming back to that planet even when they can easily explore others. I see a lot of people focus on Ember Twin, as well as Giants Deep; but me, I wanted to focus on Brittle Hollow as my first loop I plummeted into a black hole and got way to curious on why.
There’s also an interesting phenomenon where people will straight up avoid a planet after one incident with it, or just completely not touch it because of its look / what they’ve heard. My dear IRL (if you’re reading this ILY!) refuses to touch Giants Deep because it’s scary and I can’t help but agree.
It’s definitely because I’ve slipped into that middle space where after finishing the game I crave the enjoyment of it again, but I love watching new people play the game and follow a pattern of funny incidents and grudges against floating planets in the sky. These planets don’t know what we’re scared of them! But we are! I still get the shivers thinking about Dark Bramble and then having to guide my now ex boyfriend (long story but hate his guts) through it because he never read anything in game. Hate that guy.
