my favourite genre of kdrama is the action/thriller/drama/mystery that shouldn't and most likely won't have a romance but the main character's chemistry is so good you can't help but want a romance plotline

Mini-review:
I'm always up for a new Yeon Sang Ho genre feature, and this one was definitely entertaining. That being said, it's pretty obvious that he was trying to recreate the Train to Busan phenomenon, and this movie is just not at that level in any way, be it the pacing, the set pieces or the emotional stakes. The whole "hive mind" thing does add an element of surprise, though, which keeps things unpredictable enough. The cast also elevates the material and makes you invested in their characters. And I guess the production values are pretty high quality too. So yeah, Colony is far from Yeon Sang Ho's greatest works, but it's still worth a watch for zombie movie aficionados.
