For ghostsima who asked for 4 (forced to share a bed) ;o) This one got a little long (but I don't think you'll mind)...I may have to come back to this idea someday...modern AU rom com style! (image by Angiemagz)
For a dingy motel with no heat, Sybil felt surprisingly warm. Yes, there seemed to be heat radiating everywhere, especially against her back. She sighed and started to snuggle deeper under the covers, not wanting to leave them or the wonderful comfort she was feeling nestled against her pillowâwhen a deep, sleepy moan just behind startled her awake.
Her eyes flew open and her breathing came to a haltâŚas she realized that a pair of arms were wrapped around her. Oh God, someone was in her bed!  And not just âsomeoneâ, but a man!Â
A gasp escaped her lips as her rump brushed against something that was the very opposite of a soft pillow.Â
She began to rise, began to launch herself out of the warm covers and out of the bed and away from her intruderâŚbut paused when she felt a pair of lips move across her shoulderâŚand then gently kiss the back of her neckâŚbefore burrowing his nose into her hair and releasing a contented sigh.
Sybil couldnât help but sigh in return.
And that was when her bedmate jerked awake as well.
Sybil was blushing furiously, and finally managed to disentangle herself from his arms and leap out of bed, though the cold air of the motel room made her wish that she hadnât.Â
âWHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?â she demanded, folding her arms across her chest, trying to preserve some modesty (and knowing that this cold air wasnât helping). âWHY are you in MY bed!?â
Tom sat up, looking confused and groggy, and Sybilâs eyes widened as she took in his muscled (and naked) chest. âW-w-what?â
âMY BED!â she gestured at the very thing he was lying on. âI thought we agreed last night that you would sleep in the chair?â
Tom ran his hand over his face in an effort to wake himself up, scratching at his now grizzled jaw. âWell, if memory serves,â he paused to yawn. âThat chair is fecking uncomfortable, and you were shivering.â
She blushed furiously at this. âSoâŚso you took that as an invitation to get into bed with me?â
âWHAT!?â Was he actually going to sit there and lie to her face?Â
âI swear, your teeth were chattering so loudly and you were trembling, and I asked you if you were cold, and you said, âcome hereâ, so I did, and then you said âinto bedâ.â
Sybil blushed deeply. Her sisters had always teased that she had a habit for sleep-talking.Â
âI promise, I didnâtâŚtouchâŚanything,â he held his hands out in a gesture that she assumed was meant to make him look innocent.Â
And damn it, it was working.
She blushed and tried to regain some dignity then, reaching for her back and moving towards the bathroom. âI want to leave in ten minutes,â she informed him.Â
Tom groaned. âContinuing this wild goose chase of yours, then? Determined to find this ârunaway fiancĂŠeâ of yours?â
She groaned. âHe is NOT my ârunaway fiancĂŠeâ! He is my fiancĂŠe, plain and simple!â
âHe telephoned you and told you he wasnât coming back to London, that the wedding was off, Â because he had met some Irish girl who is the âlove of his lifeâââ
âHe NEVER said that!â she hissed.
âThe point Iâm making,â he muttered, rising from the bed himself this time. âIs that maybe heâs not worth all this trouble and fuss!â His eyes locked with hers and Sybil felt her throat go dry. âYou deserve better than that, Sybil. You deserve a man who understands and appreciates you for who you are, and who would never dream at looking at another woman because whatâs the point when he has YOU in his life?â
She swallowed and tried to ignore the blueness of his eyes, the memory of his arms around her , and the effect his words were having. âWellâŚâ she said after a moment. âIf you ever find such a man, by all means, send him my way.â
A shiver went down her spine as he took a step towards her, his voice low as he murmured, while reaching for his shirt which was lying on a chair just next to her hip. âAye, Iâll do that.â
