Album cover and back I made for a local band called âFuneral Studentsâ. Itâs their debut album, âGhost Oceanâ.
Feel free to check out their stuff! They are self described as grunge/ punk/ blues/ emo (and itty bitty of funk) band. They worked super hard and even made giant banners of the cover of the album.
Nuts!
In Ghost Oceanâs newest and nineteenth (!) issue, I interviewed the lovely Wren Hanks about their latest chapbook and queer myth-making, C.J. Opperthauser reviewed recent Rose Metal Press book The Voyager Record, and a handful of poets and prose writers gave us their breathtaking original work, a taste of which youâll find below:
âwhat does dark matter not touch insideâ -John Fry
âwe can make anything a heaven /Â by naming itâ -Ting Gou
âI would rather be quiet than wrong.â -Sara Wainscott
âThis solitude was the beginning of starvationâ -Travis A Sharp
âEven his blue contacts fell into the darkness, rejecting him.â -Timothy Moore
âOur bodies /Â are similar sisters //Â from the same /Â northern constellationâ -JenMarie Macdonald
âItâs the kind of look I havenât seen on a not-drunk personâs face since elementary school.â -Megan Giddings
âWe'll both have ham radios and talk in what we assume is the night.â -Christopher Citro & Dustin Nightingale
Plenty more literary goodness to be discovered, so dig in!

I come from a family of birds who begged for the bullet and took it themselves. Sometimes I worry their songs pitch through my veins like ruby- throated warblers.
