peter vc: help me

                    he hadn’t been expecting company, one of many reasons why he’d lifted the shield resting heavily to the side of his quaint couch, just out of sight when he’d cautiously approached the door, peering through the little peep hole to identify the VISITOR. he’s a bit more than surprised to say the very least, breathing a sigh of relief and unlatching the few different locks only to reveal the youngest avenger, now stood at his doorstep with a bookbag in hand and several other belongings. “ ah... you alright, parker? ” a quick scan to either end of the hall has him feeling secure enough to drop the shield against the wall this time, beside shoes parked just to the side of that entryway. “ why do i get the feeling you just got booted to the street, kid? ”

                     “ Peter? ”  he knocked on the door, waiting for any sign as he leaned against the doorframe. “ You’ve been in there for an awful long time, son. --- Food’s here. ”

        Steve had been keeping an eye on Peter after the recent events, and he knew better than to think that it didn’t take a toll on the boy. No matter how much he tried to hide it, it was painfully obvious to Steve that he was struggling. Now with the excuse of calling him in for lunch, Steve had volunteered to be the one to check up on the kid. A naive part of him hoped that his worries were for naught and that Peter had forgotten about time as he played around with his hair in front of the mirror like you might expect a fifteen year-old to do.

Ah, so it appears Stark hasn’t told the boy about how Thanos actually made half of the world’s population disappear with a single snap of his fingers. In fact, James doesn’t remember it himself because he died, too, but Steve told him about it -- and about the journey of changing the past using the time stone. Well, he guesses it’s for the best if the Spiderboy doesn’t learn about this.

    ❛   so … me ?   ❜   his brows raise, arms crossing over his chest defiantly. why shouldn’t they trust him ?   ❛   or did you mean yourself ?   ❜   peter’s not sure who’s implied as the trustworthy one, and he doesn’t want to think heavily on the topic when they have far more immediate tasks to be dealing with.

unable to help himself, otto let out a soft, almost bitter laugh. once, that would have been the case. once, he had been a world-renowned engineer and inventor, with teams of his fellow scientists beneath him. now, he was little more than a boogeyman; a monster the world screamed at and ran from. 

a tendril reached over, to touch their father’s cheek, but he ignored it. they were the reason he was in this situation; forgive him for his spite.
