Sometimes, the bravest thing you can say is:
“I can’t hold anyone else right now — I’m barely holding myself.” 🌧️
There are seasons when life feels overwhelming. When everything inside you is heavy. When simply getting through the day requires more strength than you thought you had.
In those moments, it’s okay to step back.
It’s okay to choose survival over sacrifice.
You are not selfish for needing time to heal.
You are not weak for needing rest.
You are not broken for needing space.
Healing is work. Emotional recovery takes energy. And sometimes, all you have is enough strength to stay afloat — and that is more than enough.
Maybe one day, when the rain isn’t falling so hard, you’ll have the capacity to be someone else’s shelter. Maybe one day, your heart will feel strong enough to hold others again. But today, your only responsibility is to take care of yourself.
There is no shame in choosing healing.
There is no failure in choosing rest.
There is no weakness in choosing yourself.
If you’re in your own storm, I want you to hear this clearly: you are allowed to survive before you thrive.
And your healing matters just as much as anyone else’s 🫂
