I splurged? on genetic testing to tell me about my gene variants that affect how I process psychiatric medications. This is a thing that exists! So I want people to know about it because I've taken SO MANY MEDICATIONS that I react to abnormally or with All The Side Effects, and there is a way to figure out in advance which medications are most likely to give you All The Side Effects!
My results seem fairly true to my experience. All the medications I've taken that have really wiped me out are flagged; medications that have worked best don't seem to match as well for me personally (the one that worked best for me was flagged as me being less able to metabolize it; the ones that are supposed to help most were kind of middling), but nothing that was flagged as 'extra good' was extra *bad*; and my report had some interesting actionable info in it (like apparently my body is super bad at processing folic acid into methylfolate so I very well might be deficient, which fucks with All The Neurotransmitters).
If you're curious about something else having to do with my experience, LMK. The company's called Genomind.
