The tests for the members of Summer A are truly horrifying, but the test that hit especially hard for me was Gengoro’s. With every shot of his face, my heart sank deeper for him in this moment. It’s so cruel. These animals were more than just his friends and his family, they were his children. They’re scared and sick and it’s so painful for him to watch. You can see the pain so clearly in his eyes, especially when he’s confronted by a rabid Tongo. He has to stop this, but the only way…

I can see him going through the emotions of coming to the realization of what his test is, and making the decision to kill the animals to save his own life and end their suffering.

Most of these photos are of his reactions to what’s going on around him. The ability to tell a story using someone’s facial expressions is so impressive and it’s one of my favorite things about this manga.
