       EVAN’S WORKED WITH LOTS OF TYPES.  BEEN IN A LOT OF SITUATIONS.  GENERALLY, THINGS DON’T BOTHER HIM.  HE’S SEEN TOO MUCH IN SUCH A SHORT LIFESPAN.  he’s become too accustomed.  except for one thing.  general dismissal.  nate (@geneticpawn) had purchased a few hours of evan’s time at a discounted rate ($825).  though the second he arrives; zack’s having none of it.  

       THOSE TWO WORDS ARE THE ONLY ONES TO LEAVE HIS LIPS.  A TOUGH ONE.  A CHALLENGE.  BUT EVAN’S NOT ABOUT BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO A POTENTIAL’S WISHES.  if that’s truly what the other wants, he’s no choice to go back to nate and return the money.  grabbing for his bag of tricks, he slings it over his shoulder.  a pause as his gaze catches zack’s.  he considers something for half-a-second.

       DECISION MADE.  USUALLY, HE MIGHT GIVE SOMEONE A TEASE OF WHAT THEY’RE MISSING OUT ON.  BUT RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.  HE DOESN’T THINK THAT’S THE RIGHT CHOICE.  words might be the better choice.  tongue sweeping across his bottom lip, he pours over them carefully.  shifting his shoulders as he needs to relieve the additional weight of the duffel on his shoulders.

       HE’LL DISAPPEAR ONCE THE SHORT SENTENCE LEAVES HIS LIPS.

               she’d been leaned over the counter, going over the numbers on one of her latest experiments, making mental notes of other variables she still needs to account for, potential alterations to make to her setup— 

               the feeling of her hair being brushed away from her neck, the feeling of fingers grazing against the back of her neck, takes her by surprise, causing her to freeze, nearly whirling around with a fist before she catches a glimpse of zack in her peripheral vision. there’s no stopping the soft smile that makes its way to her lips, especially not once she’s reached up to brush her fingers against his.    “—i wasn’t expecting you back so soon.”

                she can feel his breath against the back of her neck. it stirs her baby hairs and god her breath catches in her chest while simultaneously feeling like her heart might combust as gentle lips brush against the nape of her neck. it’s brief, lingering for only a moment, and immediately jemma misses the contact. she turns and takes his hand in hers as she looks up to meet his gaze, dark brown meeting his emerald green.   “is that... a normal way to greet people?”

AFTER THE DAMAGE / ACCEPTING.

       remy’s been hunted before.  he’s literally been a.w.o.l. from the lab for five years now.  they don’t like that.  so now and then they send someone to try and collect him.  it doesn’t work.  because he’s outgrown most of the security precautions, with the ability to override.  there is still a kill switch, which will overdose him with a combination of items that’ll potentially kill him, more than likely severely weaken him.  he’s done these chases.  he’s sick of them.

       but it’s become a part of life.

       what he hadn’t expected was to meet zack.  they’re alike, in quite a few ways.  the exception in this case is that remigio is a werewolf.  however, having zack around proved to be an alliance he was enjoying.  especially considering the fact that without even the slightest bit of hesitation, zack has ghosted four armored men—- not bent on collecting him, but bent on the werewolf.  and it had surprised remy, pleasantly.

       tongue sweeping his bottom lip, he gives a look at the bodies.  they’re going to have to dispose of them and quickly.  and if he knows his former owner; then find the gps devices and destroy them.  it’s very likely she’s on her way here with additional support to bring him back.

       rough breath exhaled.

               ❝no, there usually isn’t far as they’re concerned.  they’re only lookin’ for the payout.  thanks, i appreciate it, a LOT, but we got to make sure we torch the tracking devices on them or we’re in for more.❞

               ❝now why would i go and do a thing like that?❞  okay, truthfully—- in any other situation, yes he would.  zack is attractive.  very attractive.  there’s no denying that.  however, evan knows better.  regardless of how he particularly thinks or feels; he will ultimately respect zack’s initial decision.  unless… he can tell he’s changed his mind.

       right now.  that wasn’t clear.  so he’s erring on the side of caution.  though, he will admit something—- ❝i’m not blind, zack, you’re a handsome guy.  but i’m not disrespectful.  that’s not how i work.❞  that’s not how he was brought up nor was it the way he conducted himself on a professional level.  never had been, never will be.  a smile tugs into place.
