It depends on where you stand in the society.  Your average civilian is probably only casually aware of whatever the kids are into these days.  Information Age tech is taken for granted, but all the cutting edge cybernanocomputers are solely for the wealthy and the black market.  Among the wealthy, body modification is common and most employ cyborgs for their security and technomancers to keep their data safe.

Youth culture is pretty much exactly like the 1995 movie hackers.  Kids wear neon, skate around in parks at night and talk about the latest ICE-cracks for jacking data.

By and large there are two kinds of kirhosi settlements: Sprawling, city-sized buildings which I’ve been referring to as arcologies, and crude cutthroat camps set up by kirhos dissatisfied with arc life.  Another way of putting it: your options are Blade Runner and Mad Max.

A long time ago, there was a centralized government; but shortly after the total depletion of natural resources on the Kirhosi homeworld, large corporations stepped in with arcologies.  Though anyone could--and let’s be honest, had to-- live in the arcology for the nominal fee of working for the corporation for the rest of your life, the arcs were still technically privately owned by whichever corporation built it.  Therefore, government had limited control over the laws of the arcs.  As all kirhos life moved into these cities, government slowly dissolved and those who refused the corporate life were left to fend for themselves.

There are various internetlike networks linking arcologies, but these are also privately owned and sell their services to arc owners.  There are fierce rivalries between internet providers, which means that if you want to talk to someone in an arc with a different ISP, good luck!!

You'll definitely learn your own community's history; unless you're exceptionally unlucky you'll probably know it in great detail.  In addition, you'll probably dabble in several crafting-based professions and you'll have a focus in some particular area.  You'll probably be trained in the use of some kind of weapon; most likely a bow of some sort, but spears are popular amongst the brave and the desperate and the lucky ones can get their hands on guns.

Hm.  This is a hard one for me.

Well I DO have a character whose arc boils down to "Evades civil authorities and eventually turns into moth-man*, thereby accepting and growing into a role of extreme responsibility"

I am not sure.  I really want Mothman to be involved because he's one of the best cryptids but I kinda want to present the oneshot as a pilot to a potential episodic series, and if that's the case then you can't START with Mothman.

Maybe, though.
