I hate when older people try to project their insecurities, procrastination, failures and fears on to you. Those of us still young need to be taking risks and doing things different than those before us. Thatās the whole point! So many of our parents, grandparents and their parents were so damn scared, living in scarcity & desperately holding on to any comfort or false sense of stabilityā that they didnāt achieve what they could have. We donāt all wanna be stuck in our hometown. We donāt all wanna get married and stay when they cheat. These are generational curses and curses are meant to be broken. Donāt let an old person talk you out of your dreams, because they couldnāt achieve theirās. Living in fear will keep stuck and going nowhere.
I had this conversation so many times with my dad. My dad was so talented and I get all my talent from him. We had so many business, creative ideas and plans together, but he couldnāt grow up or get out of his toxic comfort zones. He continued unhealthy habits to escape, he allowed his wounds to fester and made the same mistakes constantly. My dad died suddenly, without achieving a single thing he planned. None of my dadās dreams came to fruition and none of the things we planned will come to fruition. Losing my dad gave me many revelations. I tried so hard to heal my dad and make him see his potentialā when that wasnāt my responsibility.
I donāt wanna end up like my parents. Iāve watched how they live like rats in a maze or birds in a cage. I donāt want that for me or my future generation.
