DGM 233 Musings
****Spoilers ahead, read at own risk****
So, Hoshino-sensei just released chapter 233 and holy frak my heart. I have been of D. Gray-Man for years and I have to say this is by far the most beautiful chapter I have read up to this point. Don't get me wrong, Hoshino does amazing work. However, this chapter, the parallels, everything about it, was absolutely breathtaking.
This chapter, to me, also confirmed a suspicion I've had for a while regarding the Earl in particular. Yes, it's probably been established well in previous chapters regarding the Earl as Allen's Mana. However to have it confirmed in this chapter just makes my heart leap for it-and break for sorrow.
Another suspicion it answered, if slightly, was that Allen was to be the host of Nea (me to me:well obviously), but he should have been 30 years old. This is something the fandom has been curious about a few chapters ago. For Cross to confirm it only raises a couple more questions. Like why is Allen only a kid? Why does he have innocence? Questions I've had for a bit.
Like I said, this was perhaps my favorite chapter to date. Aside from seeing some Cross, we got to really understand Mana's predicament a little bit. Watching Mana struggle against the Earl breaks my heart, personally speaking. We see that Cross is trying to keep from the Earl awakening, which only raises more questions as to Cross' involvement with the twins/the Earl.
Overall, I absolutely loved this chapter and I cannot wait for October.
Side note:Seeing Hoshino-sensei so happy on Instagram brightens my life. I'm so happy she is doing well. 🖤
Anyway, thank you for reading this sloppy rambling.
