Lunch Date at Gemma National Gallery
After hearing so much about the delicious steaks served at Gemma by Michelin Chef Beppe De Vito, my wife and I decided to have a lunch date to try it out for ourselves.
First items on our lunch menu is a mini appetizer and a starter comprising of Charcoal Grilled Spanish Octopus paired with Spiced Salmoriglio, Romesco Emulsion, and Feta. The grilled octopus is delicious on its own, with the right amount of char and smokiness infused into the dish. Unfortunately, the condiments did little to significantly elevate the overall taste.
The main star of the day is the F1 Wagyu Ribeye (450 DAYS GRAIN FED). I would easily return to Gemma just to savour this steak as it is cooked to perfection and complemented by two sauces that adds an additional layer of complex umami flavors to the meat.
And to end our lunch is their signature pasta dish: Spaghetti ‘MONOGRANO FELICETTI’ , Cacio, and Pepe. It is a little bit too cheesy and salty for me and my wife, but it would appeal to diners who are looking for a rich flavorful pasta with a lot of bite to it.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Gemma and I am already planning my next visit to try out more of their steaks and prime meats!
