I decided to go a slightly different route - I'm going to do The GMMTV Boys Edition™️. Basically, I'll pick (at least) one of the pairs for each rasa as either my favorite couple for the given aesthetic/vibe, or a pair I think would do very well in that aesthetic/vibe, drawing a little bit on my days of casting-director-dom. I'll put a few notes about my choices, too.

But it does offer a prime time to introduce everyone to the Thai phrase I discovered that’s applied repeatedly on Tiktok to Gemini and several other BL actors (tho that’s def partly due to my algorithm) and importantly to me, Ciize, as well lol. ถูกเลี้ยงโดยกะเทย translates to “raised by kathoey.” The vids that come up depict what queer English speakers would call camping, and Gemini’s been doing this kind of stuff since he started in the business (and seemingly before that based on these childhood pics 🤣).

On top of that he’s been embraced and welcomed in by the many kathoey staff he works with. See Godji teaching him a classic ‘toey joke/song reference here or Tong, his main makeup artist talking about teaching him and Fourth loo slang here. How about Rin, the L’Oréal promoter crying for him and the team at the Paris fashion show? A few queer people caring is just anecdotal evidence, but we don’t have ANY evidence that he has any kind of bad reputation among the queer community he interacts with.

It’s not surprising for a queer man to criticize effeminate behavior and label it as mockery or a stereotype. I personally think it’s one of the most pernicious issues among queer men, stemming from the desire to preserve their own “masculinity”and retain the privilege and status that comes with that association. But internalized homophobia/misogyny is not cute and a lot of queer men are effeminate, exaggerated, and silly. I’m not saying Gem’s queer, but whether he is or not, there’s no reason for us to condemn him for performing a dance in an over-the-top way without any target for a joke or evidence others have issues with his behavior. Let a gurl swish now and then 💅🏼

Especially when the Priest decided to throw the scholarship in his face immediately afterward. Just did not sit well with me.

But, I am against organized religion, so maybe there is too much anger in my heart, too 🤔
