collection of small crit/rumors ive heard
iskall posted a video clip basically passive-aggressively calling Grian out for not inviting him to the LS, and started laughing hysterically when a viewer told him it was improvised because the creators said so, implying that they were lying and that it was scripted. he had to pin a comment half-apologizing for it.
i was watching a fwhip (empires guy) stream a year or two ago, and someone brought up why he wasn't in the LS, and it was very clear he was frustrated he wasn't invited. he started going on about how he'd asked multiple times and that he'd given up bc it was clear he wasn't wanted. but he also said that he was told it was full, but then Gem got added, so he was confused why he kept being rejected, and he kept saying he had a lot of friends on the server. memory's a bit hazy but it's interesting that two people so far have publicly expressed dissatisfaction/bitterness at not being in the series.
this is the craziest one but i think most people know so i just wanna get your thoughts: when Iskall was still on S10 and he was doing his "obsessed lovelorn stalker" bit with Joel (which was obviously him trying to piggy back off of Etho/Joel), he was building a love tunnel with pictures of joel and lizzie but lizzie was crossed out, and it was supposed to have some Adele love song playing in the background. He was explaining this on stream, and someone in the chat brought up Joel's boundaries, because he was describing it super creepily lol. He then goes on this rant about how boundaries are overblown, that he didn't care, and said some weird things about consent. he wanted to push the joke as far as possible to see how far he could push boundaries, or something like that it's been a while. he posted this clip, got TONS of backlash in the comments and he quickly privated the video so it didn't get out of hand. i know a lot of people were kind of uncomfy with the joke but didnt wanna say bc it wasn't in the funny way etho/joel was, it felt more over the top. i know i always skipped those parts in joel's videos lol. ANYWAYS, Joel was offline for a few days when Iskall built the tunnel. When Joel got back online during Iskalls stream, he wanted to meet Joel to record the bit for his video, so he went off stream. I guess they met off camera and Joel didn't enjoy what happened, and i never ended up hearing anything about the tunnel again. i dont wanna compare the situation to what actually got him in trouble, but yeah iskall weirded me out as a Joel main just bc of that
i put the questions again before my answers so you could get a recap about what the anon was saying without having to scroll up, BUT that did make this very long, so be prepared for that.

iskall seems to me to be a defensive person at heart. him blaming the entire controversy on "cancel culture" and victimizing himself makes that clear.
honestly, i did watch him for a while on streams before all the stuff came out, but i just got bored. i don't think he could have been creative enough for the life series and as much as i would have loved to see all the hermitcraft members in a more cut throat game (minus iskall), it's straight up just not sustainable as a series due to size and personality compatibility. i love all the hermitcrafters! not all of them are life series material for improv, fighting, nor are they capable of keeping an entertaining enough pov. iskall fell into that box of unsuitable even before all that stuff came out about him. either way, he should have maintained his professionalism. it only ever gets awkward when people get jealous about this stuff in public.
i think the life series isn't scripted. …to a degree. I've talked about it in my previous posts, but there's been issues where grian inserts himself into nearly every single lore-worthy situation or uses the game mechanics that he himself planned to his advantage.
adding on that, we've heard from streams that some people plan team-ups beforehand if possible, grian sends out big messages about events sometimes when they'll be playing, etc, but i don't think the actual progression of the series is scripted. if it were, it'd be better. that sounds mean-- but what i mean is that we'd have less repeat winners, a definitive answer on if there will be lore or not, less or no bugs, and no more of grian crashing out when he loses.

i think gem is a great addition to the life series. i think she would have been added regardless on if grian was being weird about her. the thing is though, i actually think that fwhip would have been another great addition-- but i get why he wasn't added. i don't think I've seen a TON of fhwip and grian content, and it would have been sorta strange for him to add someone he doesn't really know all that well.
secondhand embarrassment aside, though, i do feel for fwhip. AGAIN, i believe that people should keep their crash outs to themselves, but lowkey i'd be pretty frustrated if i saw all my friends on this huge server and getting tons of views while i was getting a "no".
i do think it's full, though. i think that no more new people should be added to the current bunch. i think that if it were to get more people added to it, it could have a new cast of members with the previous ones possibly taking on a spectator or admin role to make the game more fun.

i DO REMEMBER THAT!!! i never heard anything about it again, though, and i was too busy with other stuff to track down where the storyline went. i'm glad it was abandoned or else i would have gotten looking for a whole lotta nothing.
i did like the beginning of that iskall and joel arc because frankly, solid storylines have been disappearing from hc recently as everyone gets more and more chill and comfortable with it, but i never really watched iskall streams. I COMPLETELY MISSED THAT.
anyway, CROSSING OUT LIZZIE'S FACE IS CRAZY WORK. imagine freshly joining a server, meeting new members, settling in, and then hopping on call with another member to see that they have made an entire love tunnel with pictures of your wife crossed out like a murder. also, idk what the dates were, but if lizzie was pregnant during that, it would have been EXTRA WEIRD. boundaries hell, iskall DIDN'T KNOW JOEL LIKE THATTT.
him going on a rant about boundaries is ridiculous now that we have hindsight from how much of a creep he actually was.
