#gekko fluff

he gave you another high-pitched noise before beginning to scramble down the hallway. as expected, he stopped in front of gekko’s opened bedroom door. you hesitated for a moment, wondering if you should step in. it wasn’t your room, and while gekko and you were friends, it wasn’t as if he had given you the right to walk into his room at any given moment. even then, shouldn’t you knock first?

biting back that thought, you knew that wingman wouldn’t have retrieved you from your room in the dead of night for nothing. you followed him through the opened doorway and attempted to follow him through the dark room.

eventually, you heard the tapping of his claws on the ground and then the rustling of sheets; presumably, wingman was trying and failing to jump up onto the bed until he finally succeeded.

that theory was confirmed a few seconds later, as he finally turned on the lamp situated on the nightstand. he gargled in annoyance, closed his eyes, and shook in a way akin to a wet dog. with his eyes now adjusted to the light, he turned around and clambered his way over to sit on gekko’s chest.

the man in question was sound asleep. he was wearing a black t-shirt and gray sweatpants, dark green blanket tangled around one leg and covering half of his chest. his breaths were steady and shallow, every few breaths emitting the remnants of a snore. nothing seemed to be wrong.

at the end of the bed, dizzy seemed to have stolen a portion of the blanket for herself and was asleep in the nest she’d made of it.

“mateo?” you called his name gently at first.

he didn’t move. not that you would expect he would, being that he was very clearly fast asleep. wingman whirred at you.

with a deep breath, you stepped forward and put part of your weight onto the bed. you reached out and lightly shook him, calling his name once more. nothing. you shook a little harder, spoke a little louder. still nothing. alright, maybe you were getting a little worried now. how heavy did he sleep?

you leaned more on the bed, peering over his sleeping body. your weight supported by one hand, the other found his jaw. with your thumb on one side of his face and the rest of your fingers on the other, you turned his face gently to study his features. he seemed fine enough apart from the sleep lines carved into the left side of his face and the slight pinch of his brows. you called his name once again.

this time, he shot up in bed with a gasp. in doing so, his forehead collided with yours and sent you backwards. an attempt to catch yourself on the heel of your palms failed miserably as he moved his leg from beneath you. the little amount of support you had from your hands was swept from underneath you and you fell onto your back. your back and head were met with the warm and fuzzy sensation of his blankets.

although you were vaguely aware that his room smelled of him, you were now fully aware of the scent of lavender and sage that lingered to the blanket previously wrapped around him.

“y- wings? what the…” gekko groaned and rubbed at his eyes. it was another few moments before he registered that you were there. “y/n? what are you doing here?”

“that’s a good question.” you answered. you attempted to sit up once again, finally succeeding this time. “wingman woke me up. acted like something was wrong, so i followed him here.”

it was now that you noticed how off gekko looked. his eyes were wide and watchful, especially considering he had been fast asleep a few moments ago. his chest rose quickly and fell heavily, tanned fingers whitening with the grip they had on his bedsheets. wingman warbled absently as he scampered atop gekko’s lap and plopped down almost comically. he stared up at you expectantly, although you weren’t quite sure what he was trying to communicate.

gekko made a noise somewhere between a huff and a laugh. “i was having a nightmare. i guess wings knew… that, or i accidentally kicked him off the bed in the middle of it again.” the little green creature whirred at the word ‘again,’ but made no further complaints.

“ah. i wonder why he came and got me though? other rooms are closer than mine. neon’s for one, or even reyna’s. i assumed if he was looking for someone to comfort you, he’d go to her first. not that i wouldn’t comfort you! i just—”

“i understand.” he said, usual smile returning to his face. “i’m sorry about him, dunno what got into him. you should get some sleep though. it’s too early for this, little man.” he looked to wingman at the last sentence, who seemingly ignored him.

“well, goodnight anyway… and sorry for the scare. and goodnight to you too, wingman.” you said. the creature made a noise somewhat like a purr in response, followed by an indignant noise as he realized you were leaving.

your hand had barely touched the doorknob when you heard a thump, followed by the scampering of claws across the floor. wingman pawed desperately at your leg.

kneeling down, you asked him what was wrong. he shifted his weight from stubby leg to stubby leg, before turning around to look at gekko. the creature gargled, which made noticeable heat rise in gekko’s face.

“no! i mean, yes, but no.” he responded. again, wingman made a noise, and he spoke back. “it’s not like that…”

“grbghr.”

“ok, it is like that. but i can’t just— that’s not a thing, alright, buddy?”

“hmrg?”

“it’s just… a weird thing for humans to do. i’m sorry.”

“rgh.”

you never thought you’d see so much annoyance and attitude come from the small, blob-like creature that was wingman. finally, gekko sighed. he threw his head back and took a deep breath.

“he… wants you to stay.”

it felt rude to laugh. but you couldn’t help it. against your best attempts to stifle it, a small laugh escaped you. as strange a request it was, you didn’t mind it. you were far too lost in your sleepy state of mind to care much about it, but you also knew how persistent gekko’s friends could be.

“yeah, i’ll stay. scoot over.” you spoke. wingman hummed, clearly pleased.

despite the darkening of his cheeks, gekko moved over in his bed. in the back of your mind, you thought about moving back to your own room once the two of them were asleep.

however, as you settled in beside him, you began to drift off. the low trill of dizzy somewhat-snoring and the warmth radiating off of thrash didn’t help either.

the next thing you remember was the blinding light of whatever the hell had been shining into the room at this hour. you realized soon after that the shining was inside of the room, coming from the overhead light. brimstone stood in the doorway, jett and phoenix behind him snickering amongst themselves.

“what are you two up to?” brimstone asked. you couldn’t quite tell the tone of his voice — he sounded so stern and almost angry, as if he was your dad who had caught you in a more compromising position. yet, there was a playful lilt hidden in his voice.

“wingman happened.” you huffed, still too half-asleep to care to explain.

whether or not he was actually upset you didn’t know, but he reminded you that breakfast would be ready soon and to come to the kitchen once you were ready. you nodded, still rubbing the sleep from your eyes.

the door clicked closed. as the laughing and teasing jokes made by phoenix and jett disappeared down the hallway, you finally decided to get up.

you now realized the position that gekko was in. he was a stomach sleeper, but was laying half on top of you. one leg was thrown across yours, his arm wrapped around you, and his face tucked into the crook of your neck.

“hey,” you called, voice soft. “it’s time to get up.”

Tejo is the one who suggested the beach day. After weeks of mission stress and the summer heat creeping through HQ, he drops the idea casually one morning over coffee

Swim trunks in a deep navy, a black sleeveless tank that shows off his shoulders and forearms in a way that makes you seriously question your composure.

He's hauling a cooler and a beach umbrella like it weighs nothing his arms muscles on complete display.

You arrive a little later than the others. And you don’t mean to stare at him. But you do.

When he sees you walking up in your swimsuit (something that fits you just right, maybe with a flowy cover-up or a nice pair of sunglasses) he freezes just for a second.

His jaw tightens just a bit. He gives you a once-over, not in a creepy way, but in that intense Tejo kind of way. Then he clears his throat and offers a small, teasing smirk. “You always planned on being the most dangerous person at this beach, or is this just for me?”

He pretends to be unfazed, but when you step closer and grin at him? Yeah, he’s gripping his bottle of water a little tighter than before.

Later, when you're both in the water and you're floating near him, he lets the act drop for a moment and murmurs quietly “You look good. Almost too good.” “Almost?” “I’m trying to behave, cariño. Don't try to test me.”

Chamber

You’re not sure why he’s even here. “Beach day” doesn’t scream Vincent Fabron, yet here he is, designer sunglasses, tailored swim shorts, linen shirt unbuttoned, and an expensive-looking towel laid.

He’s sipping from a glass bottle like it’s fine wine while the others are roughhousing in the waves.

When you appear in your swimsuit, Chamber doesn’t immediately say anything. He lowers his sunglasses just slightly, his eyes scanning you like you’re the most intriguing thing he’s seen all year. “Mon trésor, if you wanted all eyes on you, you could’ve just asked. Now I’m going to have to fight off half the beach.”

You roll your eyes, but the way he sits up straighter and adjusts his shirt cuffs isn’t lost on you.

He’ll pretend he’s not phased, but later, when you're lounging beside him, he'll lean over, voice low and silky: “If you wanted to make me jealous. you’ve succeeded.” “You’re ridiculous.” “Only because you’re impossible not to admire.”

Jett

Jett acts like she’s super chill about the pool day, but you know she’s extra excited. She even brings matching towels for you two.

She cannonballs into the pool the second you get there, splashing water everywhere, then immediately pops back up and reaches out to pull you in after her.

You laugh, stopping her with a hand and saying, “Let me at least take my clothes off first.”

She rolls her eyes dramatically but waits—only to completely freeze the moment you peel off your cover-up and reveal your swimsuit. Her mouth opens slightly like she wants to say something clever, but all she manages is a breathless, “Whoa.”

Like, full-on malfunctions for a second, blinking rapidly.

“Hooooly- okay wait, you can’t just show up looking like that without a warning. That’s illegal.”

You raise an eyebrow. “Illegal?”

“Yeah! You almost gave me a heart attack”

She spends the rest of the day pretending to act normal but is clearly flustered every time you come near.

Splash fights are vicious with her, and she’ll absolutely tackle you into the pool with zero hesitation. “Love you! Now drown!”

When things quiet down, and you’re both sitting at the edge of the pool with your feet in the water, she leans against your shoulder.

“Hey” she murmurs. “Just so you know, you’re, like… really hot. Like so hot I can't even believe you're real.”

You laugh. “That your way of flirting?”

“Shut up and take the compliment!”

Gekko

Gekko is the most excited about the beach day, he’s practically vibrating when he shows up with little floaties for his buddies and a cooler full of snacks and drinks.

He’s in loose, casual swim shorts, sunglasses perched on his head.

The second he sees you in your swimsuit? His brain absolutely short-circuits. “Damn... you look-uh-wow, like… wow.” He fumbles for something to say, then pretends to adjust the volume on his speaker just to look busy.

You smirk and walk up to him, pressing a light kiss to his cheek just to mess with him. His entire face lights up like a neon sign.

“You’re killin’ me, dude,” he groans, turning red as he hides behind one of his buddies like Wingman could actually shield him from the heat on his face.

But you just grin, enjoying how easy it is to throw him off balance. “What, you’re allowed to look at me like that, but I can’t kiss you a little?”

Gekko sputters, clearly trying to play it cool, but you can see the tips of his ears burning. “Nah-I mean, you can, but like-warn me next time so I short circuit.”

He insists on swimming with you, doing cannonballs, floating around with his buddies, and splashing like a kid.

At one point, you sit on the edge of the pool with your legs dangling in the water, and he just stares for a second before floating up beside you. “I’m really glad we could cool off together” he says, a little softer this time, his eyes focused on yours.

When he gets out of the water, dripping and shivering, the first thing he does is offer you his towel, even though he clearly needs it more. “You can take mine,” he insists, rubbing at his arms. “I don’t want you getting cold or anything.”

You take it with a smile, then ruffle his hair with your damp hand. “You’re the one shivering. Pretty sure I should be the one giving you a towel.”

“Yeah, but… I like taking care of you” he says, his face still sligthly red but not hiding it this time.

Chamber

You hadn’t meant to say it. It slipped out while he was adjusting your clothes for one of those fancy events, hands steady, movements practiced, standing too close the way he always does.

“Mon chéri/e” he murmured, smoothing out a crease on your clothes. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were nervous.” He was smiling. That easy, knowing smile that always made your stomach twist in the worst way. Making you feel like he already fully knew what you were feeling for him.

And then it just... happened. “I love you.”

His hands stilled. Only for a second, but enough to feel it.

For once, it was him caught off guard. Then, without saying a word, he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to your cheek.

“I know” he said, voice still smooth but quieter than usual. His eyes, though, were something else, steady, a little too serious.

Sova

He always brought you something warm after tough missions. Tonight it was tea, exactly how you liked it. He handed it over without a word, offering a quiet smile that always brought you a sense of relief.

You sat on the edge of your bed, still in your clothes from today's mission. He turned to leave like he always did, respectful of your space and never staying for too long, but something tugged inside you today.

“Sasha.”

He looked back, hand still on the doorframe.

“I love you.”

The silence that followed wasn’t heavy. Just... still. Then he let out a quiet laugh, soft and genuine, the kind of sound you wouldn't hear from him often.

“I hoped you did” he said, stepping back toward you.

He sat beside you on the edge of the bed, just close enough that his shoulder brushed yours. “Because I love you too.”

You reached your hand out to grasp his and just leaned against him. There was no need to say more after that.

Gekko

The infirmary was quiet except for the low hum of equipment and Wingman’s soft breathing from the corner. Gekko sat on the bed, shoulder freshly bandaged, still cracking jokes while you cleaned up the mess of supplies around him.

You tried to scold him (tried to stay annoyed) but your hands were shaking just a little. “Geez, you really freaked me out out there,” you muttered.

He looked at you then, a bit more serious than before. “Yeah… sorry” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I didn’t mean to scare you. I just—I couldn’t let you take that hit.”

Your stomach twisted. He said it like it was obvious. Like it wasn’t the kind of thing that could’ve ended him.

“You’re lucky I love you too much” you said, voice soft but firm, unable to help the way it slipped out.

He blinked, surprised, but only for a second. Then that familiar grin spread across his face, wide and a little crooked.

“Yo... seriously?”

You rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. “Yeah. Seriously.”

He didn’t say anything right away. Just reached over and took your hand, fingers warm and careful. “I was kinda hoping you’d say that someday” he said, almost sheepish now.

“I love you too. For real.”

And he didn’t let go of your hand, not even when you went to sleep that day.

Breach

Sparring with Breach was always intense but somehow still fun. You were both slick with sweat, catching your breath after the latest round. He hauled you up from the mat with one hand, grinning like he hadn’t just nearly knocked you flat.

“You’re getting bette,” he said, brushing off your shoulder.

“Thanks,” you replied, trying to keep your voice steady. Then, casually (too casually) you added, “I love you.”

He froze. That grin dropped in real time.

“Wait—what?”

You looked up at him, not backing down. “You heard me.”

There was a beat where neither of you moved. Then he stepped in, close enough to make your pulse stutter.

“You better mean that,” he said, voice rough around the edges.

“I do.”

The kiss he gave you was quick, heated and when he pulled back, his smirk returned, but this time, it was different.

Skye

You and Skye were walking the trail behind the base her favorite place, full of winding trees and animals. She was mid-sentence, telling you about some big woodworking project that she did years ago.

And then you said it. No build-up. No hesitation.

“Skye, I love you.”

She stopped mid-step, turning toward you. “Wait, for real?”

You nodded, suddenly unsure of yourself now that the words were out.

She stepped closer, bumping her shoulder into yours with a warm smile. “You know,” she said, “I was wondering how long it’d take you.”

Then she wrapped you in a hug that was incredibly comforting, her voice soft near your ear. “I love ya too.”

The rest of the walk was slower after that. Quieter. But every time you looked at her, she was already looking back.

Reyna

You didn’t expect her to respond. Not really. The two of you lay next to each other under the covers after a long, brutal mission, the kind that left it's mark. She was silent, eyes fixed on the ceiling and mind somewhere far away.

“I love you.” You said it into the stillness, barely more than a breath.

For a moment, she didn’t move. Didn’t speak.

Then, softly, so soft you almost missed it, she replied, “You shouldn’t.”

You turned to face her anyway. “But I do.”

She looked at you then, finally. Her expression unreadable, eyes dark and searching. “You’re foolish,” she murmured, brushing her fingers along your cheek like she couldn’t help herself.

“But I won’t lie” she added, voice even quieter. “I… feel something too.”

It wasn’t a declaration. It wasn’t a promise. But coming from Reyna, it was everything.

And that was enough.

Gekko Gekko immediately notices when something’s wrong. He is even softer then usual as he crouches in front of you, his hands gentle as they find yours. “Hey, hey, it’s okay,” he murmurs, his thumbs rubbing soothing circles over your skin. “You’re safe, I got you.”

He doesn’t rush you, just stays close, offering quiet reassurances while his little buddies hover around you, sensing your distress. He starts talking about random, lighthearted things, maybe how Wingman got into trouble earlier or how Dizzy almost knocked over his drink. His voice is calm, steady, trying to give you something to focus on.

Once you're ready, he guides you to the couch and wraps you in a warm blanket. “How about a movie marathon?” he suggests, a grin tugging at his lips. “Or, better idea, I make you whatever you want to eat, and we turn this into a full-on spa day. What do you say?”

He makes sure you’re comfortable, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead before heading off to prepare your favorite food. When he returns, he settles beside you, rubbing your back or belly, or in general doing whatever you need. And with his little creatures cuddled up around you both, he makes sure you don’t feel alone, his presence reassuring.

Yoru Yoru isn't great with words, but he knows something’s off the moment he sees you struggling to breathe, your body tense and shoulders trembling. His jaw tightens, his usual cockiness pushed aside as he quietly kneels in front of you.

“Hey,” his voice is lower, more careful than usual. “Look at me.”

He gently takes your hand, placing it over his chest. “Breathe with me,” he instructs, inhaling deeply, exhaling slowly, waiting for you to follow his rhythm. He doesn’t rush, doesn’t push. Just stays there, grounding you with his presence.

When your breathing steadies, he squeezes your hand before letting go, standing up like nothing happened. “Tch. You scared me for a second,” he mutters, rubbing the back of his neck. “You know I'm not the best at the whole emotional talk thing…but, you’re not dealing with this alone. I’m here, okay?”

Then, without waiting for a response, he drops his jacket over your shoulders, his way of comforting you without making it obvious. “You’re cold,” he grumbles, avoiding eye contact. “And don’t even think about arguing.”

He stays close, even if it’s just sitting beside you in silence, his presence making you feel safe.

Reyna Reyna acts fast. The moment she notices your breathing pick up and your hands trembling, she pulls you into her arms, one hand cradling the back of your head. “Shhh, mi amor, I’ve got you,” she whispers, her voice warm and steady.

She guides you to the bed, settling you in her lap as she strokes your hair. “Focus on me,” she murmurs, her lips pressing soft kisses along your temple. “You are safe. Nothing can hurt you while I’m here.”

She doesn’t let go until your body relaxes against her. Even then, her hold is strong, protective, her fingers tracing gentle patterns along your back.

When your breathing evens out, she tilts your chin up, studying your face with careful eyes. “Better?” she asks, and when you nod, she smirks. “Good. Now, we rest.”

No questions, no pressure, just Reyna keeping you close, her presence an unshakable shield against the world.

Jett Jett notices something’s wrong immediately. She sees the way your hands shake, your chest rising and falling too fast. Without hesitation, she moves in front of you, crouching down with her usual bright smile dimmed into something softer.

“Hey, hey, you with me?” she asks, her hands gently resting on your arms. “Let’s take it slow, okay? Breathe in, like this.” She exaggerates an inhale, holding it for a moment before exhaling. “Now you.”

She stays with you, repeating the breaths until your body begins to relax. Then, in true Jett fashion, she nudges you playfully. “You scared me, you know,” she says with a small grin. “But it’s okay. I’ve got you.”

She moves beside you, pulling you into a side hug, rocking you gently. “Whenever I freak out, I do something super dumb to shake it off,” she admits. “Wanna try? We could run around, throw pillows at each other, just do something silly.”

If you’re up for it, she’ll make sure you end up laughing. If not, she stays close, running her fingers along your scalp, whispering how strong you are and how proud she is of you.

Tejo

The first time he hears you play, he doesn’t say anything at first. Just leans against the doorway, arms crossed, watching. His expression is unreadable but his eyes don’t leave you once

When you finally notice him and stop, he tilts his head slightly “Don’t stop on my account.” His voice is calm, but there’s softness to it

He doesn’t ask for specific songs, just lets you play whatever you want. He’s not a big talker during it, he’ll sit close, a hand brushing against your back or resting on your thigh

If you play for others, though, he will get a little possessive. In the moment he doesn’t say anything, doesn’t make a scene or anything like that, but afterwards he murmurs against your ear, “You sound best when it’s exclusively for me, cariño.”

Chamber

The first time he sees you with your guitar, his eyes light up instantly clearly interested“Ah, mon cœur, you’ve been hiding another one of your talents from me?.”

From the very first note, he’s locked in. Leans forward slightly, elbows on his knees, studying you like you’re the most captivating art piece in the world. His gaze doesn’t leave you once.

When you finish, he takes your hand, kisses your knuckles, and says with a smile: “Magnifique. Truly. Now I am convinced ,I have the most talented partner alive.”

100% brags about you. If the everyone is together, he’ll casually drop, “Ah, my girlfriend? Plays guitar beautifully. You should hear it sometime.” Always said in a way that makes it clear no one else will actually get to.

Loves when you play while he sketches or works on blueprints. He’ll hum along sometimes, which always puts a smile on your face.

Gekko

He’s hyped from the start. The moment he finds out you play, he’s like, “No way, that’s sick! Play something!”

Sits cross-legged right in front of you while you play, with his signature big grin and bright eyes. His little buddies gather around too Wingman especially loves it.

Records little clips of you playing on his phone (with your permission) and sends them to his mom like, “Look, ma! Told you she’s crazy talented!”

Sometimes, he’ll just flop on the couch with you strumming beside him. He doesn’t care if you’re practicing or just messing around, he just likes the atmosphere it creates.

If you ever get shy about playing, he’s your biggest cheerleader. “Babe, you sound dope, play it again, yeah?”

He’ll even try to learn a couple chords from you. Not great at it, but he’ll laugh it off: “Guess I’ll stick to watching you be the rockstar, huh?”

Reyna

She pretends she’s not impressed at first. When you pick up the guitar, she leans back with a smirk, arms crossed. “Show me what you can do, mi amor.”

But the second your fingers start strumming, her eyes soften. The smirk fades, replaced with just focus. She doesn’t interrupt you just listening to you attentive.

When you finish, she leans in close, her voice low and smooth “Beautiful. But still not as beautiful as you.”

Reyna loves it most when you play just for her, late at night. She’ll lay back on the bed, listening to you like you’re her own private concert. Sometimes she’ll hum along, quiet, but still sweet.

If you’re ever self-conscious about your playing, she cuts you off instantly. “Stop. You have a gift. Don’t diminish it.” Her tone leaves no room for argument, but there’s warmth behind it.

And if anyone else asks you to play for them? Yeah, she’s territorial. She’ll let them hear maybe one song, but afterwards she’ll say with a smile, “That’s enough. The rest is mine.”
