Château de Saumur is a beautiful castle overlooking the Loire River in western France. It is one of the most famous castles of the Loire Valley, a region known for its elegant châteaux.

The fortress was originally built in the 10th century and later expanded by the Counts of Anjou. In the 14th century, it was transformed into a luxurious royal residence by Louis I, Duke of Anjou.

Over the centuries, the castle served different roles, including a fortress, prison, and military barracks. Its fairy-tale towers and white stone architecture became symbols of French medieval and Renaissance design.
