Final Draft: Amy's How-to do a Trick!
An employee of Amy's Ice Creams, I know and value the skill it takes to do a trick. This is what pushed me in the direction of using this skill in other ways that would not only put a smile of a child's face.Â
This HOW-TO project was challenging in a great way because I learned a lot. In the earlier drafts, you can see that I used lots of floral and, through critique, I learned that it did not make sense to have the floral. Though the floral was pretty, very Texan, and I liked it, I had to move past it because the floral combined with ice cream was confusing to my viewers.
So next, I replaced the floral on the cover with hearts and I changed the floral handles on the spades to solids with shadows. I also ran into some trouble with the title. Finding a lack of variety in my text, I realized that there was nothing drawing the viewer's attention. So, I changed the text weight, color, and font in order to create some dimension. I feel that the pamphlet I created is informative and easy to follow and I am happy with the directional arrows created in order to resolve any confusion. Â
How to do a Amy' Ice Creams trick - 1st draft.
The Identity Series provided an opportunity to work in a new, unexplored territory - buttons. Designing for such a small scale required that the imagery be eye-catching, the type readable, and the series altogether informative. I chose to include type, despite the risk that it may be at too small of a scale to provide impact, and to pair it with imagery in order to juxtapose and associate the Blanton Museum of Art's name with the faces and work of the designers being shown at the fictional exhibit.Â
