I just wanted to say that I think it's really cool that you're a girl scout leader but you're not a mom! Sorry, if that sounds weird...
LOL I don’t think there’s a great way to say this, but I get what you mean!
I think more childless young women should volunteer for Girl Scouts, otherwise, how are they supposed to have a larger variety of role models they know personally?
You don’t even need to make a major time commitment to make a difference! For example, our Girl Scout council (Greater Chicago & NWI) has many ways people can share their skills with the general council or individual troops. My favorite is the Expert Connection database they are building. People fill out an application listing their expertise or skills in a particular field or area so that troops who want to explore that topic/area can get in touch with them. Maybe they’ll schedule a Q&A session, or recruit them to help guide them as they complete a badge in that topic.
If this sounds interesting to you, check out your local council and see what kinds of similar volunteer opportunities are available for you to make a difference in the learning and growth of the next generation of future girl leaders. It’s great fun and feels really fulfilling. I love being a Girl Scout leader, sometimes it’s a lot of work, but I really enjoy spending time with my girls and trying new things with them.
