Sorry for bugging you! The quetion was coded in Caesar cipher and clock showed the shift of letters (3 ->). Anyway, the question was: Would Edward use ciphers to write notes for his loved ones? Imagine Charlie having a pile of those notes left by Edward. Or is it not his type of behavouir? -🚪
You didn't bug me at all!! I honestly do love puzzles, my brain was just fried last night lol. I'm sorry if I came off as annoyed (I really wasn't!!) <3
Oh leaving coded messages is 100% Edward behaviour, and I can totally see him using so many different codes, and not just for loved ones too!
For work he'd definitely set up this overcomplicated code in his own language, but the rules of the language and translations of the symbols depend on the season, and whether or not the day is odd, even, a prime number or a square number. And then he'd proceed to get mad when people can't remember all of the bogus rules. His favourites would get slack (only lightly scolded and a frustrated sigh) before actually being given a hint or a way to solve it.
With enemies he'd use a simpler one. He wants them to decode it. But at the same time, he still wants them to think. So, the severity of the code would change based on their intelligence. My version of Edward has the want and need to be caught, to an extent. Does he want his plan foiled? No, but he wants people to know who is causing such chaos. He wants them to find him when it's just too late to stop him.
Now to answer about Charlie and codes — Edward would give Charlie coded letters 100%. However, it's important to note that Charlie isn't a genius. He's not stupid, he's slightly above average. BUT he is smart enough to realise that if he indulges him, the letters will just get harder and harder. He used to work at the GCPD, he's dealt with enough of Edward's letters for a life time.
So, instead, he'd play dumber than he is, ask Edward to show him how to work it out (essentially get him to infodump) and then work it out next time using what Edward 'taught' him. Getting homework from your boyfriend isn't fun, HOWEVER, Charlie would turn it into a way of making Edward happy, whilst he doesn't have to think too hard about it.
