Over the Love by Florence + The Machine
Okay, can we talk a bit about this scene? It looks like another deliberate attempt by the 2013 filmmakers to show how Nick has always been Gatsby’s true green light. So at the end of the film, we see Nick remembering the times he had at Gatsby’s now abandoned mansion which culminated with him seeing a ghost of Gatsby standing by the dock. Nick’s closing monologue, which taken from the book, accompanied the scene. Just when we get to the part where Nick said, “His dream must’ve seemed so close that could hardly fail to grasp it. But he did not know that IT WAS ALREADY BEHIND HIM,” we see how the screenwriters placed Nick literally behind Gatsby! We then see the initially sombre and ghostly figure of Gatsby turned around as if he’s realizing something. He saw Nick as his figure became more real and lifelike, as if the sombreness was all gone and it feels like we are taken back in time to re-live the beginning of summer 1922 when these two neighbors first met (sort of suggesting how it could’ve been if Gatsby had really seen Nick as that real person who was always there for him, instead of Daisy). He smiled at Nick and I really love this smile because it’s very warm and affectionate (Leo did a good job with the facial expression here), as if Gatsby, at that moment, finally acknowledged that Nick was the one who always stuck by him - his smile felt like he finally returned the affection while thanking Nick for everything he did - and wished that he would do everything on Earth with him if he’s given a second chance.

Happy 2 years Natsby-versary to me yay! 😜 🥳
“Have you got everything you need?”
“Perhaps more flowers?”
Happy Valentine, old sports! And let me remind you all again…Nick and Gatsby are in love with each other.

It’s my 1 Year Natsbyversary!
Yes, it’s been exactly one year on this date (9 December 2018) since I first realized the greatest love story never told that is Nick and Jay’s during my second time watching The Great Gatsby movie.
Let me also thank all of you my Natsby family here on Tumblr! You guys are perhaps the nicest and most respectful sub-community I ever came across in any fandom. When I first boarded this ship, it was so hard to find others who acknowledge it both around the web and in real life. Then I came to Tumblr and bam! All of you here have been creating a Natsby haven all this time and I was late to the party. ♥️
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all and keep the Natsby flame burning!
Tried my hands again at layering but, ugh, sideway faces are HARD! Drawing’s based on this lovely photo of Cary Grant and Randolph Scott: https://goo.gl/images/VxXd8g
