With only 26 days til the Gator Softball team has its ribbon cutting ceremony at its beautiful new softball complex, there is this #throwbackthursday moment when then-freshman Jordan Matthews hit an incredible game-saving three-run homer to left center, sending the Gators back to the Women’s College World Series. Making the moment even more dramatic: Florida was down to its last out, Mathews was down to her final strike, and the Gators were down 5-3 to Texas A&M in Game 3 of Super Regional. What are the odds of capturing not one, but two clutch sports moments that would send both the Gator Baseball team and the Gator Softball team back to their respective World Series?! I was fortunate to cover both games and be in the right place at the right time to see these two teams battle their way back to the College World Series. For @gatorsbb @austinlangworthy44 his big moment came in the bottom of the 11th inning of a win-or-go-home Super Regional Game 3 between the Auburn Tigers and the No. 1 seed Gators. Tied up, 2-2, with one ball and two strikes, Langworthy hit the ball deep in right field, where it bounced off the glove of Auburn's Steven Williams and flew over the wall, clinching the win and sending the Gators back to Omaha. For the @gatorssb team, it was freshman @mcjay99 time to shine. Down to the final strike of the game, with runners on first and second, Matthews came up with the biggest hit of her Gator career – a three-run home run to send the Gators to OKC. So cool to capture both clutch moments in 2018. Looking forward to catching more of them in 2019!
