It has been a month since I started my placement at Porter Airlines. So far, it has been amazing. Today (Oct. 19, 2025), I experienced doing US flights. I wasn’t expecting to be able to do US flights because when we had our 2nd-day training at Pearson, they told us only domestic flights. I was very grateful and thankful because I get to experience mostly all the work a Porter CSR would do. I am also getting used on working with Go Now and Agent Dashboard. At first, I was so confused, but I am always with Porter employees who would be there at all times when I needed help. Doing US flights was an amazing experience for me. To this day, I am still thankful and grateful to be a part of Porter, to be one of their Co-op students. This experience will stay with me for the rest of my future career in aviation.

“ladies and gentlemen you do NEED to have your boarding passes ready, please don’t act surprised and dig through your things when you get to the gate”
“Anyone who is seated in the exit row will need to stop at the gate so I can ask them a very important question. Do not say yes before I have asked the question or in the middle of me asking the question. Do not rush past me when I stop you. And No your children can’t sit in the emergency row with you but we will be happy to move you.”
“Ladies and gentlemen we do need everyone to hold their own boarding passes. Please do not hand me a large stack of mixed boarding passes and rush by.“
“Once again, only groups, one two, and three. Look at your boarding pass, if it says 4 or 5 sit down.”
Lady edged in front of me in line, then chewed the gate agent out for allowing weather to exist. Awful customer service!
I don’t understand people like that, throwing a fit and being immature doesn’t get you your way. It wins you “malicious compliance” at best. She wanted a ticket NOW, she got a ticket NOW.
I was patient, polite, and allowed the man to do his job. He went the extra mile and got me on the earlier flight.
Normally I treat gate agents like the royalty they are. They have my patience to the 10th degree and make operations run smoothly. San Diego introduced me to the first nasty agent I've met. Yelling at flight attendants trying to commute to Newark for work, scolding me like he is my boss for sticking up for said flight attendants. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt (i.e. Maybe he had a terrible day or has family issues), but he was just mean beyond belief. Glad to have only been there for...well...we were delayed so for about an hour. Bye Felicia. Wicked Witch of the West Coast, you.
