Follow up:

There is potential that Gaster is, in fact, all Gasters in the void. Could they have all just melted into one consciousness or are they living separately in the void in the attempt to avoid (hah) each other?

Papyrus believes in Santa, and every year somehow what he wants appears. Sans does not believe in Santa, and he has no idea how things appear in their living room every year.

Papyrus is always overjoyed, because Santa has brought something for him! Maybe it’s not exactly what he wants (but he understands that Santa MUST have limits on how awesome a gift can be), but it might be something he needs, or a different version of what he asked for.

Sans does not believe in Santa. But he always leaves out milk and cookies...just in case.

Sans and Papyrus wonder why their mugs go missing. Papyrus thinks it might be the dog. Papyrus always notices how Sans’ expression changes when he notices the mug that’s missing (usually some form of pun mug).

Eventually, they start leaving out mugs with little notes attached. Each has a “cleverly” written Sans^TM pun, and some form of beverage that has a bow on it, with a note attached with Papyrus’ handwriting.

Gaster appreciates the gestures, even though they can’t see him.

Gaster is viscous. Not solid, not exactly liquid either. It changes day to day, as well as with his mood.

Sad? Puddle. Feeling happy? Puddle. Feeling angry? Suddenly very solid. Extreme emotions cause extreme reactions.
