HELLO, ALL YOU HAPPY PEOPLE! I had to draw DROOPY TOBY. I loved Droopy Dog as a boy growing up on vintage cartoons. Droopy was created by one of my favorite animators, Tex Avery for MGM cartoons, although, earlier in his career, Tex was one of Warner Brothers original animators in the 30s. I gave myself an assignment from one of my online art course lessons to reinterpret something from my childhood and make it my own. Ever since I created my character, Toby, he existed by manifesting himself into any creature or culture. I love this DROOPY TOBY! Droopy always made me laugh. WIZARD OF OZ!!! When looking for inspiration, there is no place like home…and in your sketchbook. The film Wizard of Oz was always an inspiration. Made in Hollywood, where I grew up, this story about the need to leave where we came from to learn who we really are. This is one of my important lessons in my online art course. This past weekend I saw the film again at @cinespia where Judy Garland & Toto have their final resting place. In my new sketchbook, I drew Toby as the Tin Woodsman, Wildgirl Dorothy, Ahwroo Scarecrow, and Blackie the Cat as the Cowardly Lion. MAKE ART YOUR OWN.
