5. What is an image/set of images that you’re particularly proud of? Imagery and metaphor are weak spots of mine, so I’m always pleased when I get one down that feels just right to me. The passage at the beginning of chapter 2 of Tangrams, where Rose realizes how much traveling by vortex manipulator reminds her of the same breathless fear she had nearly falling into the Void in “Doomsday”; a brief passage at the end of Conversations With the Flesh, where Cleaves sees the Flesh!Doctor, now in liquid form, as “fearless, exploratory tendrils curling in and out of the porous stone”; and jeez, now that I look back at my list of fics on Teaspoon, I’m really proud of the imagery in Heartbeats, the Sandman crossover now totally jossed by “Night and the Doctor.” You can’t write Delirium without writing imagery, but this brief passage of dialogue, which refers both to multiple companions and to Death, may be my favorite part:

"Hearts that taste like golden mist and ambergris and little fluffy bunnies. Some hearts you ordered with coffee in Paris instead of lemon biscuits. Thorny hearts and patient hearts and jealous hearts and the heart of a sailor washed ashore.

"And thousands and thousands of hearts for my sister."

6. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work? garpusstuff asked about this one, too, and up until a year or so ago, I’d have said, “Handy/Rose/River, goddammit.” Right now most of what’s frustrating me is my inability to cudgel any of my original fiction ideas into shape, but I still have some fic lying around in my unfinished drafts folder that I hope to finish someday: a Nine/Donna AU (a proper AU that diverges from canon instead of one of these coffeeshop-college-spy-stripper-CEO AUs the kids are all writing nowadays, ahem), and I still have about a third of “Doctor Who and the Timey-Wimey Marriage,” a multi-Doctor Four/Romana fic, written and languishing on my hard drive for I don’t even want to say how many years.
