What to do if: you've cooked a dish with and have eaten TOO MUCH GARLIC at 4:12 am
... or at way too late to be eating too much garlic time.
First! Don't sleep! Your stomach will throw a hugeeeee party, make a hugeeeee mess, that you'll have to clean up in the morning. You actually might not be able to sleep at all. And if you do, you'll probably have terrible nightmares. Wait at least 2 hours and then sleep. Ponder this poem by Rumi:
When I am with you, we stay up all night, When you're not here, I cannot sleep. Praise God for these two insomnias! And the difference between them.
Second! Brush your teeth multiple, and I mean numerous, scores of, times that following day. This is common sense buuuut I bet you won't do it. Please have mercy on the poor noses that may be wandering about your premises.
Third! Document yourself on the hidden meanings and powers of garlic. This will create some positive vibes in your mind, especially if you're tempted to worry all night, Oh my dear God, I've eaten too much garlic!! The following may help:
Garlic, is a masculine herb associated with the planet Mars, the element of fire, and the deity Hecate. It offers protection, healing, exorcism, and anti-theft. Garlic should not be eaten if you are breast-feeding. Garlic is often used to absorb or prevent diseases. Roman soldiers used to eat it to give them courage. It is placed in the home to guard against the intrusion of evil and is especially protective in new homes. Brides once carried a clove of garlic in her pocket for good luck and to keep bad things away on her big day. Rubbed onto pots and pans before cooking in them, garlic removes negative vibrations which might otherwise contaminate the food. (Source: Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs)
Fourth and final! If you have a beloved, who usually kisses you so sweetly, don't be upset if he or she brings that wonderful tradition to a halt today. Really, it's nothing personal. Garlic smells delicious in food! Not so much when it creeps out of your mouth and pores. Remind yourself that this too shall pass and that soon enough your night with garlic will be forgotten past, only to be recalled, perhaps, during an other evening in the far far future, when the brilliant idea may come to you and enchant you into cooking some organic penne with a garlic, mushroom, butter, and thyme sauce, because... well, why not?
Be blessed :)
