The Stocking Stuffer Series - Odo/Garek
Thanks @saathiray for the prompt!
A wetstone to keep from dulling.
Life as a humble tailor is simple, it is calm, it is quiet, and it is completely and utterly dull. Its a drastic change from his time… before. Some days its a good change, most days it is, but some days, some days he can feel peace-time dull his brain.
That’s where Odo comes in. Odo is clever and stubborn, and if Garek can just feed him little clues or hints about his past… Nothing to big of course, just enough to keep his interest. Well, he could have his cat-paw games in miniature.
It feels good to have a clever opponent again.
A cerebral sparing partner.
It’s not that Odo is bored. He has far too much work looking after the station to ever actually be bored. However, he’s… not intellectually challenged. Tracking down smugglers and pickpockets on the promenade is hardly mentally taxing.
Garek, however… Garek is a puzzle. He just doesn’t fit. Clearly, the man is more than the simple tailor he claims to be, but there’s never enough to do anything with. Odo doesn’t think that Garek is actively a danger to his station, but it never hurts to make certain.
Besides, it’s… nice to have a mystery to unravel.
People judging watching.
If you’d ask them, Odo and Garek would say that they were simply practicing their deductive reasoning on the people pass through Deep Space 9.
In reality, they’re sitting at a table outside of Garek’s shop pretending to play some sort of chess adjacent game, gossiping and judging the hell out of passers by.
Just a reminder, I’m doing Stocking Stuffers of 3 headcanons or 3 sentence drabbles for December! Send me characters, ships, or fandoms!
