Grub Headcanon/Reference using Gamgrub

I've been trying to figure out grubs for a while, and tonight, I finally figured them out for myself. Decided that they probably all generally look the same starting out. Their eye and face shape might be very slightly different, but beyond that, their horns, ears, and blood color are more than enough to differentiate them from all the others. They'll become differentiated in the superficial ways during pupation when they develop actual noses and bodies and things.

Grubs don't actually shed tears. In fact, they have a third eyelid that cleans their eye for them instead up until pupation when, depending on their caste, it will either become vestigal or remain with them. Seadwellers (and mutants, like Karkat) keep their third eyelid while landdwellers do not. Seadwellers, for this reason, do not actually ever cry, because it's a waste of moisture, and they of all trolls require the moisture. Karkat is fucked up in that he does still have the third eyelid, but he's still very much capable of crying. He's technically a landdweller, but his biology is fucked up in that it does have resemblances to seadwellers in things such as that.

Nobody knows with purples. 

Big eyes for best seeing in the dark of the brooding caverns, little ears for hearing, and little spots down their bellies for further sensory purposes. It alerts them to movement and things that they may not be able to see and hear. The spots become vestigal and unnecessary after pupation and instead become fun erogenous zones.
