dont worry, ive been single for 18 years lol
Ach, sucks, sometimes, huh? I tell myself I’m very comfortable with it, and most of the time I am, but other times, notsomuch
Idk, statistics are always real or sometime real. its change. like 90% is still a loooooot of people, but also 10% is still a looot of people, just less than 90%. Thats funny, because we will ask each other "do u like hearings or deafs" around. Most cute deaf guys I know, usually responded, "hearing girls" and i was like dammit inside. I can do fine with both-- if they know culture and language or will admit to learn for me because i cannot learn oralism.
I was chatting for a while with a girl on OKC who was Deaf, and she didn’t seem too interested, lol
I can understand wanting to date within your community though. which is generally why I’ve been single for about 5 1/2 years or so
Yeah, they just used it for drama and lalalalala. They had few good episodes about deaf culture, but thats it. Dude, I love her! I always wanted to meet her. Stephanie Nogueras and she are my idols. yes, my parents are hearing-- Im only deaf person in my familly, like 90% of deaf people have hearng parents. Im kinda lucky, because some of deaf people here i know never learn ANY language. No ASL. No English, No Spanish. No language. We just welcome them and teach them as always.
That’s really cool! That sounds very welcoming.
Yeah, I figured that was the case. Idk, I know the statistics, but sometimes I still like to check. I know 90% of Deaf people marry other Deaf people, but one time I told a woman that I learned that in class, and she was very affronted, told me her husband was Hearing and that the world was changing lol
I got CI when I was 3-- my parents said i keep chew these little ear muffs because i disliked them. I went to speech therapy too, and I didnt understand and keep blabbering stuff? My parents gave up. Luckily I use asl with it too. I never use it after that, but I still have CI inside my head. Never removed it, I guess. I dont know how they do lipreading stuff, but still most deaf people didnt really lip read. Plus i saw some deaf movies-- turned out some actors are not really deaf.
Yeah, I’m actually really impressed that Switched at Birth used d/Deaf actors/actresses, often Hollywood doesn’t care about accuracy lol
But Matlin, man, she’s like a Deaf hero, classic, I loved her in The L Word.
Are your parent Hearing, they let you get a CI? I haven’t met many Deaf people in favour of that.

You are still counted in Deaf culture!! I am just excited to meeting people like me and guys like you— Ive been in hearing world for long time.I have no lips reading and talking— just signing. People speak your own language is very comforting
In Deaf Culture class, they taught us that lip reading is a myth; it's very difficult, and highly unlikely that d/Deaf people can read lips, but given the heavy emphasis on oralism and such, I can understand how people think it is more common than it actually is

I LOVE THEIR INTERACTIONS SO MUCH. Not so much the rest of the show but Sean and Matlin are A+
seriously. i love matlin so much, the L Word helped a lot with that lol

whoa!! are you Deaf too?? :0
lol, no, i'm HoH, and i've been fingerspelling/SEE from a young age with my siblings cos it was a way to talk without people understanding, but now that I've taken ASL in uni, I really like it, and even though my two years are up/there's no ASL 5/6 classes, I'm still going to attend the Deaf socials and stuff and practise more
20 min. Hell no. its longer than that. When u did brush all knots off, but they come back in few seconds. Knotception.
