Toward the sun
Here we are, 5 1/2 hours into our southbound odyssey and we’ve yet to get a mere glimpse of the sun.
The same monochromatic grayness that’s been hanging over mid-Michigan for as long as anybody can remember followed us across the state line, all the way into the hill country of southern Ohio. Along the way we encountered various light precipitation - snow, then rain - but no slick roads.
We spent the night in Gallipolis (GAL-i-po-lis, according to our waiter at the Tuscany Italian Restaurant), just across the Ohio River from Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Our goal today is Statesville, North Carolina. I’m confident we’ll see sunshine before we get there.
