Look, Kotaku is always quick to be the wokest person in the room. They accused JRPG Persona of having a song with racist lyrics when the journalist only…misheard them. I usually go with IGN reviews ign.com/article…
I’ll look at this review as well, but the review on Kotaku was quite honest about the fact that the journalist had only gotten 10 hours and wasn’t sure if the themes were handled better later on and promised to do a full review upon finishing. So far she was just giving her impressions that they really needed to tackle this subject matter far more head on than it appeared. 10 hours may be brief, but it’s not a TERRIFIC sign if that long into the game you’re getting hit with “both sides had merit” when it comes to calculated genocide.
On a subject matter like colonialism and genocide this is something I’d rather be accused of being “too woke” (the fuck?) on rather than yay let me skip through a fantasy where I’m a conquistador with no consequences or (honestly worse) bad lip-service to how both sides are wrong so let’s do a middle ground (how?)
